Can these be used if you run them via a surge protector? I never got an answer last time I asked about rjkoneil's comments regarding surge protectors.

Um a surge protector only protects the voltage from surges it doesn't really do much else. Every PC I've ever known can run on surge protectors...

Same here, I've never had a problem. However, one of the guys who build these systems for OcUK, rjkoneil, said in another thread that, and I'm paraphrasing here, using surge protectors can lead to dodgy overclocks with these pre-clocked systems/bundles.

It's no big deal, I'd just like clarification before spending my money. That's all.

The only way it could do that is if it reduced the power. Perhaps using some no-name rubbish it could cause voltage fluctuations (which is the entire reason people use surge protectors to protect against) or it could have a resistor in there which is slightly lowering the power.

The above is purely speculation. I've never had this and never had any problems with using them (in fact I would now never connect my PC directly to the mains).

The surge protector I have is now entering it's 11th year of service - I paid around £35 for it and I'd never be without it. We've had tons of spikes, etc. over the years but always my PC has survived.

Tempted by a few PCs in the Full System Bargains section. However are they reduced in price because there's something new around the corner?

I know hardware is ever-evolving but I ask because I have a VERY nasty habit of buying stuff on the eve (literally on the eve) before something much better replaces it.
