So the price of i7 put a lot of people off the shift from their s775 setups this will make the jump a no brainer for most....

i5 looks to be a winner in my book.

I bought an i7 chip 920 and sold it 2 days later...glad I did:p

Have to say, for whoever who is looking for an upgrade the i5 is looking finger licking good. Excellent power consumption, low voltage meaning more headroom for clocking and good value too.

I recently got a Q9550 with 8GB of RAM which I'm really enjoying, so I won't be upgrading any time soon. However, my next PC will definitely be i5 (or whatever's best at the time).

Craig.

Why did you sell yours? I thought you did a lot of encoding etc?

I had i7/X58 but sold mine on, didnt make much difference to me because all I use my pc for is gaming really.

P55 chipset looks interesting though as it uses over 30W less power than the X58 chipset, I might just buy it for the sheer fun of having something new to play around with.

Bit put off as i will have to basically buy a whole new rig to upgrade the cpu and i can't be bothered especially with a lot of cheap second hand cpu's appearing soon :D

lol...true that. I got an i7 920 c0 stepping lined up for sale. Just upgraded mine to D0 :p

What I need now is to wait until I have access to MM so I can flog it off.

If I could get a tweaker M-ATX board i5 come Christmas really cheap... Then yes.

Then I'll grab one of the Koolance LN2 pots for my blakcops! haha

Theyre going to have to be something special to warrant the capital output for me.
Think Id probly end up going for the very best next time I upgrade - whatever that will be.

Nah, Just put in a 9550 to replace my E6750. And with 8Gb of DDR2 not going to upgrade until this system is totally useless. Which should be a while yet.
