Porsche failed MOT - Quote £1000

yes, rang them and they says the discs are covered, these policies are too good to be true

I had an ABS sensor go a few weeks back, they paiid in full at main dealer and settled direct

I just hope I get my renewal in before they realise this isn't going to work

Wow, so you've had your money's worth out of the policy then :)

I can't believe that they cover discs!

£440 for a pair of front discs on a Rover 800? What?!

Vitesse, they're not originals.

Rover 800 mk2 used the same discs on every model and engine size which are 262mm vented fronts wih single pot calipers which are fine for a entry level 2.0, but they lack a bit on the turbo.

Friend who had car before me fitted 4 pot Brembo calipers paired with 330x28mm AP Racing discs which do the job nicely :p

After driving with standard brakes on another 800 I won't entertain the notion of fitting standard brakes back on it.

Although I do think that £440 for a pair of AP discs is very very expensive, they may not be off the shelf like the BMW discs. £120 a pair would be acceptable IMO.

Hell, the full 320mm Brembo setup for my car is only £600.

the brembo 330mm disks for my car were only £80 for the pair :p

Git :p

managed to get the parts ordered for £288 but it looks like Tesco will at leat some of this up, new front tyre I have got for £208

reckon I will be left with a total bill around the £350-400 plus the test fee so loads better than it originally looked :)

How does the warranty work? Do you just phone Tesco, say that something is broke and then take your car to the Porsche garage and they deal direct?

yep :)

I had failed ABS sensor. took it to OPC , they diagnosed it, rang Tesco who authorised it, OPC billed Tesco direct

Fot the MOT procedure is same but they also require a copy of MOT failure form

im just reading through the tesco T&Cs

is there anything that excludes modified vehicles you know of ?

no point paying £300 only to have claims turned down on brake discs because ive got EBC pads, not GM ones.

I think modified cars are excluded, can't see them doing it because of brake pads though, 90% of cars on road prob don't have OEM pads

Excellent, I almost hope mine fails next month!

for a normal use road car I would avoid ceramic brakes at all costs, the maintenence costs are not temotely worth it

Had the tyre swapped today, old one is off to Michelin for examination to see if I can get them to cough up but tyre place reckons it's been caused by a pothole
