Sick of Firefox

I find browsing with Firefox to be fine (nowt special really), but opening it takes at least five times as long on my work machine than Chrome or IE. For that simple fact, I'm a recent Chrome convert. Plus the latest dev build allows bookmark syncing :)

I agree one of it - depend on your machine hardwares also you need to clear cookies, history,etc.. no problems for my as it run so fast with 3.5.2, still depend on your machine and software (if you install too much softwares then you need clean up by using CCleaner or TuneUp 2009) that would help to clean up waste of disc space

I dont see any problem in Firefox

I think Firefox is over rated to be honest.

I agree with lokkers, on my work laptop it is very slow to open, and when I open a new tab and press home there is a long wait before my home page pops up. I would blame works internet but I don't have the same problem in Chome or IE8.

Config is:
Clean install of Win XP
AMD Athlon 64 3200
1 Gb RAM

I'll try a few other trouble shooting methods. :-/

Hey Ricochet,

From my experience I find Firefox quite a bit slower on single core cpus. It tends to slow down after you open a lot of tabs and switching quickly between them like you mentioned.

The only thing I would recommend is to resort to an older version, such as 2.xx and report your findings.

The majority of IE users find it to be the best browser going, the majority of Chrome users find it to be the best browser going, etc. You'd have to be a bit silly to use a browser that wasn't your favourite (unless you're forced to use IE6 at work:mad:).

Not strictly true. People using Firefox or Chrome have likely made a choice to use that browser, whereas the majority of people using IE are doing so simply because they don't know about the alternatives. It gets used just because it's there.

Although anyone these days who is unaware of other browsers, is almost certainly the sort of person to whom 'best' would be whatever they are most comfortable with. So even if they were given a system with every browser on, they'd still use IE because it was 'best'.

Latest updates (3.5.2) have really slowed down my FF too. It used to have no problems but now just with opening around 8 tabs it pretty much grinds to a halt for a few seconds, which it never used to do before.

It doesn't happen every time though and all the pages are basic pages so it's not an issue with flash or java.

We are talking just about a Web Browser.

To most people, there would be no differences between IE and anything else. It just works and therfore no reason to install or use anything else.

This is the reason my gf and I use chrome now. Firefox would end up taking 1Gb of RAM on both our machines and render the whole system unstable and sluggish. Shame really as I love FF

I personally used to use FF until Chrome came out and its amazing, i just love the way it just flows and that there isn't loads of useless gui buttons just what you need.

you really think firefox would be in the position it is if it was like that for everyone?

Been causing me a few problems as well. Certain websites refuse to refresh after a while and I have to close Firefox to get them working again. Can have any number of tabs open but it'll only ever be a problem for one of the websites never all of them.

Also have to go in to task manager to stop Firefox running a lot of the time. Not a fan of 3.5.2.

Move back to ie8, its lovely :) Think ff was good when it first came out, low resources and all that... now it feels a bit bloated :(

Did try chrome for a while too, its defo the quickest browser out there!

Firefox owns because of downthemall and adblock plus. Chrome is cool as well, but until it has the same add on support, then I wont bother with it. I'm also not sure that Chrome is that much faster than the newest Firefox.

FF 3.5.2 opens in about a second on my laptop in win 7, and i have no problems with slow down using the 15 or so tabs i normally keep open (bad i know:p). i do, however, have problems with java and have done for quite a while. sometimes its just....grr. but other than that no, its brilliant.
