Got rid of most application crap now.
 
Create two lists. One for people you want to hear from, one from people you dont. Add those you do to the appropriate list, and select it when you first log in. Thus you'll only see news feed items from these people.
 
Im love to know how to block peoples status. Really annoying when someone constantly writes stuff like X is hungry, X is tired, X is going shopping. no one cares!

I think there is a facebook lite being trialed in India or somewhere at the moment, supposed to be facebook how it was originally, without all the apps and crap
 
anyone know how to stop 'notifications' down the bottom right when it says '20 of your friends have done blahhhh, why don't you' - that isn't a notification... that's an annoying add for something i've never signed up for!

tis very irksome....

this is my reason for going on FB to tbh :D - now just need to figure out how to be friends to random hot girls...
 
I had a cull a while back after some people on my friends list found the MJ jokes distasteful, got rid of the ones who found the jokes inappropriate. Also had to delete a girl as she kept posting updates about how much she misses her hubby as he's on tour in Afghanistan, at one point every update on my list was from her :(

Blocked the apps a while back and I just ignore all the daft requests.

I think it has no photos as well. It's low bandwidth orientated for mobiles and countries with a developing internet infastructure.
 
There is one girl who is friends with my missus and she updates with the most annoyng crap in the world, it's such a needy thing FB that I detest it, I only got an account due to my missus signing me up.

I mean who updates with "Is in a bad place" and doesn't say what the reason is, it's fishing for people to give sympathy, I hate it it makes my blood boil, and just thinking about it has put me in a bad place, lol.

gosh you guys get wound up over the smallest things! Though I must I agree all the apps are crap that's why I don't use them and remove those settings from FB.

But the status updates are fun, and it really doesn't bother me in fact it's part of the fun of FB, and the fact you can comment on them and have a giggle with people without having to send a million tesxt messages - it's great.

You can ignore updates from users if you don't want.

Bunch of grumpy so and so's! :D

Like I said, stick them on a separate list to the ones you do want to see, and only select that list:

So the people I want to hear from are in 'Conversation', and I have that selected by default so when I log in, I only hear from those. Those I don't want to hear from regularly, are in 'Na'.
 
You can also click on the right drop down menu on that person and block them individually.
