Recommend me some speakers for listening to trance music

I have a pair of Altec Lansing 2100 speakers with an Asus Xonar DX sound card but I'm thinking of upgrading the speakers to either Creative Gigaworks T40 or Altec Lansing FX4021. Would this be an ideal upgrade or should I stick with the speakers I've got?
Would either of these be suitable for the kind of music I listen to? I like a good bass and decent mid-tones while not too heavy on the treble.
I'm not sure how the bass sounds on either of these speakers and would like some feedback from someone who has had some experience with them.
Or, can anybody recommend me any other 2.1 speakers?

Dedicated bookshelf setup with a sub and amp would give nice results. :)

Best thing I ever did for my music was when I moved away from PC speakers to hi-fi stuff.
What setup have you got if you dont mind me asking?

I was thinking of going for new Wharfedale 9.1's with a second hand NAD320BEE, seems a popular choice.

How much are you looking at spending? Just get an amp and speakers. Then save for a DAC.
If buying second hand you can get some decent floorstanders and amp for £150

No need for a sub if you have decent speakers (so long as you arnt bothered about 5.1)

Personally i have B&W 603s1 and Marantz PM68 amp. That setup cost £145. I had Creative Megaworks 550 (5.1) before and the seperates are a millions times better

edit - i listen to lots of trance (hard, psy/goa and normal) house, dubstep, garage and hardcore

Depends, i find good bass needs good punch. If a 2.1 setup has something like a dedicated HT sub in it i'ld imagine you'ld get much more of a punch than with bookshelfs, at least at TC's budget.
I got more punch with my old inspires but i'm pretty sure that's down to my amp...
