Blue Screening during games

I've put together a PC for my step daughter but we're having problems with it. It works fine unless used for games. COD5 will run for up to about 5 mins before blue screening / restarting.

Spec:
Athlon 4600+ (used but worked when last in use)
Arctic Freezer 64 (Brand new)
Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H rev 1.1 (B Grade from OCUK)
1x OCZ 6400 2GB (Brand new)
Palit 8800GT (used but worked when I used it last)
OCZ StealthXStream 400w (Brand new)
80GB Western Digital IDE (used but working)
20GB Western Digital IDE (used but working)
Sony DVDRW SATA (Brand new)

Any suggestion?

Using the latest nvidia driver, Palit don't provide their own any more.
COD5 is patched to 1.5
Problems only occur during gaming, she can leave it on all day web browsing and the like without issue.

Could it be that the graphics card wants more power than the PSU can supply? I don't want to fork out on another and find it doesn't solve the problem.

Faulty RAM? That was my problem anyway... and mine was only a few weeks old! Your PSU seems a bit low in power... I always tend to go for 560W+, 400 seems low for a 8800GT but others might disagree.

Hi

I know the Minimum System Power Requirement for an 8800GT is 400W.
You could try removing / unplugging any non essential devices and seeing if that helps.

What does the blue screen say / can you check event viewer?

I ran the memory check program from the Vista DVD but it passed. I guess I can whip some out of mine and try it to be sure.

Maybe I should buy a cheap higher wattage PSU and if it works replace it with a decent one when it dies?

Run Memtest 86+, burn to a cd if you want to do it quickly.

As for the PSU, I personally would say invest in a good quality high wattage for now if you planned to upgrade in the near future, then you can use it in your next build?

Have you not got a friends PSU or something you can borrow to test if it fixes your problem?

52C under load. I checked AMD stats and it indicates 60C as max. The Freezer 64 is brand new today, it had a stock cooler on it previously.

Wasn't intending upgrading her pc again for a long time. I've got a 750w pc power and cooling in mine but it's just a faff transferring it.

The message yesterday said IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL event viewer didn't seem to say anything of use. Just unexpected shutdown.

Right I've just run memtest on 1 of the sticks (it's now running on the other) however it stopped on this.

I was expecting it to continue the rest of the tests if it found an error so I'm confused. Is this a memory error or something else?

The 2nd stick passed with no errors. I'm retrying that first one again.

Ran stick one again, 1st pass went fine but 2nd pass got this:

Stuck the 2nd stick back in and will leave it to run as I quit the 2nd pass before.

Stick 2 passed 2nd pass as well.

I've just tried the memory in another PC. If I put them both in then WIndows 7 RC will not boot giving BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO blue screen. It will however boot with them in individually.

Isn't AMPAGE more important than wattage in most cases and to my knowledge doesn't the 8800gt need 28amps on a single rail?

I've just tried upping the voltage to the memory. It says the warranty covers up to 2.1v so I tried 2.0v. Again during COD5 the pc restarted only this time it won't POST. So now I'm thinking motherboard? It was a B grade sold as repaired.

EDIT
After many, off/on's it finally posted and I changed the voltage back to 1.9v

The fact that it ran ok with my 2x 2GB would say to me that it has to be the memory. But whether it's faulty or just not compatible I don't know!
