Zalman 9700 LED vs. Zalman 9700 NT

I have a 9700 & a 9500 in different systems and never had a problem with noise although i may have just become immune to it .:D

They do tend to tarnish a bit after a couple of years though.

This man speaks the truth. The fan in them is noisy and non-replaceable, though it's not too bad when turned down a lot (but then it doesn't cool as well). They look very nice, but other coolers cost less, do a better job, and make less noise doing it.
 
what do you guys suggest then?

i have a small case and the 9700 barely fits

so any suggestions are welcome

make sure your suggested item is the same or smaller than a zalman 9700

The 9700 is a great cooler - there are better for the money though and my new 1900rpms are quiter lol. However the 9700 turned down to not be as noisey would cool as well as the Arctic freezers so it might be worth getting the 9700 just incase you need the extra cooling capacity at some point.
 
i was going to get a artic cooling freezer 7 pro but...

i can't remove the backplate on my mobo
and i can't use the pushpin on the heatsink so some modding is going to be needed if i wanna use it

also i heard the fan on the artic cooling is pretty bad on several reviews

any other suggestions?

Btw if it's of any importance this is going to be used on a G0 Q6600

anyways

the artic cooling is cheaper but is it really good enough to keep my quad cool?

btw im thinking of OCing to 3.0

another downside to the AC Freezer 7 is i have to buy other parts (nuts, screws, washers, maybe rubber washers or some sorts)

any tower HSF that is around the same size as a zalman 9700 that's screw on?

also similar pricing please
