The Official Football Manager 2010 Thread

Lol this thread has inspired me to install FM 09 onto my new computer and start a new game, but what club? Iv done little old Luton town, for about 5 years, and also a save with Man City, just for fun.
Im thinking maybe a mid table prem team, but with a fair bit of money, any suggestions (Whats the sunderland budget like)?

Apologies if this has already been asked, but will this version add the ability to set individual instructions to players which are remembered per player so you don't have to phaff about whenever you change players around, change tactics or make a sub? The game has been crying out for this for ages, surely it can't be that difficult to program.

Iv spent the last month getting into this game, the most supprising team iv found is shrewsbury of league 2 :D (you get a reasonable league 2 transfer budget and some pretty good players too)

Keeping an eye out for this wonder keeper everyone else is talking about too for later seasons

Oh and for the new one, my mate is adamant it should have away fans numbers included... (im starting to agree as i want to know how many of my fans went for the pre season friendly down at afc wimbledon too...)

I'd love that feature :(

On the topic of goalies, I HATE buying goalies, more than anything on FM. There are so few top class ones and they cost a bucketload to buy. I think the one I bought to succeed Almunia in my Arsenal game was Ochoa...for almost 60m. Clubs just ask insane amounts.

Agree about goal keepers, I either buy them young ( the Italian / Spanish one ;)) or I cry later on in the game. The Russian guy cost me 35 million :(

I also, find it VERY hard to get a decent price for any decent English player, clubs just want too much money. :(

I hate buying defenders. In my 5th season now and just can't find any quality ones for under 10mil. Got to the last day of the deadline and I needed 2 defenders so I decided to meet minimum fee release clauses. 55 million for Fazio and 8 million for this guy from Bayern.

Keepers on the other hand, easy. Manage to get most of mine on free transfers. Asenjo being the latest.

Hmm, this thread is pretty far down, haven't really been looking in on FM10, just seen the highlights reel from SI, looks a pretty decent 3D engine this time, want it already :(

i for one cant wait for fm2010 and wasting all those geeky hours away :D

as someone said earlier, im considering testing myself by taking a div 1 team to unseat my beloved man utd(whom i always play) to win multiple premiership and champions league trophies and unseat the big 4 in england.

as always i will at somepoint try to rebuild a new man utd in the wake of ronaldos absence.fergie has already bought valencia and berbatov and rooney cant play 4-3-3 again so i guess its going to be a 4-4-1-1 with hopefully owen hargreaves and carrick being a robust creative midfield force.right back and left wing will be under scrutiny and my eyes will be firmly set on luka modric for central or a left wing role.hes tough, commited and skillful and plays across the midfield.i couldnt ask for more apart from being 6ft 2in !

i wont tolerate prima donna pansies either apart from berbatov who if can get a little rough up front combined the touch could be awesome.tough tackling closing down into free flowing 4-4-2 possesion football will be my style under wayne rooneys leadership.with united u have no choice but to build around rooney in his best role which capello has highlighted is behind the stiker tucked into that hole.we only ignored this becuase ron was such a threat up front he just had to be further up on the left or right to get the goals which comes with a 4-3-3.

but... if the ai is as dumb as last year then its going to be fustrating watching wot i call "world class players do the stupidest things"

i cant for the life of me make my attacking fullbacks in a 4-4-2 stop kicking the ball out under pressure.

he could have the skill and pace of ronaldo yet still buckle under pressure from a div 2 player.i want my team calm and cool and to play out of trouble.perhaps making them take on that in the adapt thier game bit?i duno they normally all refuse changes anyways which i find annoying.why cant i tell him look change or sit on the bench?

utter failure from an outgunned ai looking for a point to 2on1 ronaldo or your best player is something id like to see as well.

just a few of the things that needs improved.

the one thing i will say about this years fm is that those crazy prices demanded by bayern for franck ribery(120m) in fm2009 should now thanks to real madrid(idiots) look realistic!
