'Boil in the bag' food for camping. Suggestions?

Get yourself some easy cook rice and something like 'beanfeast' (dehydrated bolognaise / chilli)
Couscous (flavoured sachets)
Noodles, and you could get packets of Chinese / Thai sauce
Quick, all dry (so easy to pack/store) easy, cheap, and no chance of food poisoning!!

Do not get beanfeast its ok but belive me if anyone else is sleeping in your tent or you tap and bring back a lady to your tent your farts smell the same as when you cook the stuff and i mean the same. Its not nice and its the weirdest thing:eek:

How are you getting your boiling water with the ban on gas canisters? Can you still take certain sized ones in? Or is it just Leeds with the gas canister problem...

Hotplate or kettle connected to a battery, you'd need about 15 AA batteries to boil 500ml of water. :D

That or mix in some NaSO4 and HCL.

I just live on fruit pastilles, poppy seed thins and pitta bread the entire weekend, bonus is I don't tend to visit the long drops very often, just a monster poo when I get home :(

£5 for a burger isn't that bad, proper camping boil in the bags like wayfarer cost you £3.50 and there's the faff of heating it up (they do self heating ones, but they're more like a fiver too!).

If your on a budget I'd recommend a few tins, sausage casserole, stewed steak, new potatoes and small tin of peas. That shouldn't cost more than a few quid and it's enough to keep you going all day.

Buy a few 24hour military ration packs.

5000 calories in each pack should keep you going the entire weekend :) Taste leaves a bit to be desired.

When I had mine at Dartmoor, I thought they were quite nice actually!! Although I believe they are something stupid like £20 a pop, so not the best option lol.

If you weren't concerned about the price then I'd say get yourself some US MREs!

They must have iproved a bit then - used to refer to them as 'Meals refused by Ethiopians', the only decent thing was the little bottle of tabasco sauce!

I used to love American MREs, British were ok but American were nicest. We used to take them to all sorts of motorsports events and rock festivals etc. :)

Ban on gas canisters, this is how I know festivals are too popular and thus no longer cool. all the idiots have started going it seems.

I would simply take a disposable BBQ and some sausages, bacon, eggs and beans and stuff. yummy.

Yeah, the last time we went to a festival we were surrounded by tree-hugging, vegetarian hippys. They were constantly asking us to stop cooking meat near them because it 'offended their sensibilities'.

Needless to say, they were offered both vegetarian options.

If you have a half decent camping stove you should should just cook a decent English breaky, get some cheapy sausages, bacon and a tin of beans and bobs your uncle

Yup, gotta love how these people think they are being all nice and kind, (aww poor animals) but are more nazi than hitler. I cook my food where I want!

There are people who think vegitables have feelings, I mean what if the veggies got to close to them?

You really need some military rat packs

omg it will be the best food you have ever had !!!! (if you eat throughout the day don't bother, its only really good if you are on the verge of starvation :p)
