New Tarantino film coming this summer - Inglorious Barstewards*

Spoilers

I think the point was to build up the French guy into this proud and honourable guy who ultimately fails as a damning result of the "jew hunter"'s ability to find his quarry, and break anybody who attempts to stop him. The idea of building him up immediately by pitting him against even the most stubborn of sideline characters is much more effective to me than just having him shoot a bunch of people who were harbouring jews.

What a STUNNING film. This is the best film I've seen in a very very long time, I was absolutely stunned. I went in with very low expectations as I don't like Tarrantino's style and haven't enjoyed a film of his since Pulp Fiction (which is possibly my favourite film of all time) but I cannot praise this enough. I know this is ridiculous as nothing is perfect, but I can seldom think of a single thing wrong with the film. I cannot thing of one thing that I would have liked done differently, of something that could have been added or taken away. I thought the consistency and balance could possibly be the best of any film I've ever seen. The balance of comedy/drama/emotion and what not, with the pacing and such was just perfect.

If you've yet to see this, I cannot see you being disappointed. Obviously it won't be to everyone's tastes, but everyone I went to see it with (seven or so people) all thought it was superb and the best film they've seen in a long time. That paired with the fact I listened to other people talking about the film as we were leaving the screen and as before, I didn't hear a word against it but mountains of praise.

I cannot see anyone being disappointed.

EDIT: Also, there is a fantastic amount of awesome quotes in this film as well. It's not in the league of Pulp Fiction in this respect (sorry to keep bringing it up, but it is a true masterpiece in my opinion) but I'm going to be telling everyone under my command that they owe me one hundred Nazi scalps.... And I want my scalps. :p

Awesome film. Some of the best acting i have seen and the script was simply amazing.

Also Christoph Waltz was absolutely stunning as the 'jew hunter'. I mean seriously stunning acting performance. I can see him being a big star of the future :)

A lot of my mates wouldn't like this film.

I haven't got a clue what was wrong with me as I sat through this film, I was grinning from cheek to cheek through every scene, I've just never been entertained in a cinema that way before. The tension build up and dialogue was just top notch.

Going to see it tomorrow, and I'm really hoping I like it. From the reviews, it appears to be Tarantino's best original work.

Considering his career until now has been formed from (albeit entertaining)blatant plagiarism and riding-on-coatails (besides the atrocious "Death Proof"), I'm looking for some good, solid, original stuff from him here.

Fantastic film I though, great dialogue and acting throughout and some of the characters were superb - especially the Jew Hunter.

Probably the best film of the last 3 years and it gets a spot in my all time top 10, I might actually go to the cinema and watch it again!

Going to see this on Sunday now,I read a review in the paper that slated it something awful though!

I love reservoir dogs, pulp fiction and death proof but didn't bother watching kill bill. Hopefully it's worth it!

Was one of the intentions of this movie to awaken parallels with current world affairs?
I mean exchange France for Iraq and see where your thoughts lead. Sorry if this has already been brought up.

Tempted to go watch this - since Moon isn't showing anywhere :(

And to answer a question - yes, I am bitter about that :p
You and me both. "Oh, it's on in my local cinema, ace, I'll watch it on my day off." Will I hell, it's on for all of a day. :/

The dialogue was first rate, and I love how the actors actually speak French and German.
Funnily enough, that's because they were all French and German. I went looking on IMBD because I thought I recognised the Jewish girl in it (I didn't), and from what I can work out, about the only person who didn't play a character of their own nationality/ethnicity was Mike Myers and his hilariously terrible Austin Powers English accent*.

*Loved that scene btw, Churchill sat ponderously in the corner while the two Brits are as stereotypically uptight and reserved as possible. I loved how ridiculously stereotyped nearly every nationality was in this. Added a great undercurrent of almost farce. Brits terribly stiff-upper-lip, Americans gung-ho and violent, and Nazis cold and sinister.

I don't think so, he started writing it 10 years ago.

Mike Myers character really grinds with me, the acting from everyone in the film was top notch and then that **** appears on screen, he was great as Austin Powers don't get me wrong but I don't think there was any place for him in this film. At least it was only a short scene and he didn't totally ruin my enjoyment.

Just back from seeing it, and absolutely loved it. Tarantino seems to have reigned himself in a LOT for this, and has made one of the best movies I've seen in modern cinema. The entire cast (save for Mike Meyers as mentioned previously) were fantastic - Brad Pitt is astoundingly good.

Saw this last night at the cinema, what a film!!! Loved everything and every minute of it (including the fantastic Mike Myers scene) and would definately watch it again. The script, the acting, the story, and the directing were just great. The best film I've seen this year. And to top it all, my wife, who doesn't like Tarantino movies and hates war movies, came out of the cinema and said that was a very good film!!

Saw this as well last night. Even though people said it wasn't an action. It still wasn't what I was expecting. But OMG what a brilliant film. Easily the best I've seen this year.

I was shocked at how much I enjoyed this. It was long but time flew by. Each scene had so much riding on it that you couldn't help but be drawn in.

The scene in the bar made me feel the most on edge I have ever felt in a cinema - I was curled up in a little ball at the suspense for at least 20 minutes.

Brilliant.

Stiglitz was ace in that scene, just the anger in his eyes lol.

Saw it Saturday night. Not sure I can hear "arrivederci" from now on without ****ing myself laughing.

The only thing for me was this...

*SPOILER*

At the start there were eight plus pitt. Making nine. They rescued another from jail, ten. And the British dude makes eleven. Only three were killed in the tavern leaving eight. We only ever see pitt and three others again. Two left in the cinema and one whom the "Jew Hunter" captured. What happened to the other four?
