the psu is seasonic i think 400w

i have been getting a few unexplained shut downs recently and wanted to rule out the psu

this is what speedan is showing at tick over

Vcore1 = 1.17v
Vcore2 = 1.82v
+3.3v = 3.23v
+5v = 4.89v
+12v = 0.32v
-12v = -16.9v
-5v = -5.76v

+5v = 5.13v

speedfan is not a sensible tool to use to assess a power supply. To say it's unreliable is putting it very mildly.

If you had 0.32V available on your 12V line the computer would not even think about turning on.

You can check voltages using a multimeter or buy a psu tester. How hot is it running inside? And is it full of dust?

I think your psu is unlikely to be the issue, since seasonic are more respected than anyone else in the field.

thanks for the quick reply. advice regarding speedfan noted.

i have a case temp showing at 37c though this is shown on speedfan and therefore may not be accurate.

think i will take the case apart and check it's not gotten dusty ;). i also have an old antec psu which i can swap over if necessary

cheers
