Here the GC 2009: Walkthrough
Falling more in love with this game. :D I really like the look of the game. Animation needs a bit of work apart from that looking good

Currently the game I'm most looking forward to. I'm a bit of an MMO burnout, but this makes me squeal. I'm trying to stay away from info till nearer release or open beta, I fear it will consume me.

I wish I hadn't watched the first video. Michael Madsen has doomed me to probably a year of feverish waiting... curse you, Michael Madsen!

excellent Bigpig, thanks for the heads up!!

its looking rather good, it just cant come quick enough

hah Iv been avoiding TOR website and info about the game also but my mate spammed me on msm to watch these videos. lol

The voice over thing is a waste of effort, can't see them putting in the work to keep it up as they add content and all it does is massively slow down interactions with NPC's, EQ2 uses it for some stuff and you can read the text way quicker so most people just do that and skip the voice over, and that's when they can be bothered to read the text instead of just clicking through it.

For some reason it still looks more like a single player offline RPG to me than a massive multiplayer one.

The open combat scenes seem no different to me than any other mmo I have played. The maps look huge

The smuggler combat seems strange buts thats just new.

The cutscenes are something we never seen in an mmo to date but the video showed you that everyone in the group has a part to play in outcome

i suppose they could have gone down the same boring route as every other MMo out there but they didnt, they decided to make something unique which is why the game is so alluring to most people. What you have to remember is that as you progress through the game NPC's will react and have different dialogue depending on your actions, therefore your developing your own 'sort of' unique story. I imagine this is going to be an RP'ers heaven as it offers a deeper immersive interactive story..

Looks very different to the MMOs that I play..the "open" combat scenes..I dont know..they just look heavily instanced to me. Obviously its early days so they dont have loads of people around, but the question for me is will they be having it "open" or heavily instanced.

Will there be hundreds of people in the same area, or will it be instanced with just your group?

If its not instanced, how will the story be told?

What happens if I group up with people on a quest to kill some dark side guy, but at the last minute I decide that I dont want to kill the guy, I want to join him and keep him alive so I wait for my group to engage him and then help him by attacking my group ? Can I do that? Or is it that you "have" to follow the scripted good guy/bad guy storyline once you are in one with a group?

Could just be me being cynical, but it does seem to me that its essentially something very similar to City of Heroes or Guild Wars or something rather than what I consider an "open" MMO.

PVP options?? anyone know if this game has any
THat was the defining part of SWG, if this follows a similar route ill be very interested.

I know its still early days but this looks like a single player game. or on aiming for console market ports in the future.

Im still hugely into eq2 as no other MMO has done it as good in the previous 5 years...

Ill deffinately be looking a this when its beta time, although i suspect, sadly, it will be watered down crap aimed for the WoW market.

You raise some very good questions mate some of them I have no answers to as bioware are being very tight lipped and info is sparse and any thing I say would be a pure guess

Now the story part we saw their was a flashpoint and from my understanding it is an instant (it does look instant). You are on board a spaceship after all in space and could be linked to certain class quests that trigger it.

The part where you start off enter a few buildings then go outside and kill a few mobs looks open world and will be more likely for none class quests and general gameplay

Again, herd rumors that it will only be a "few" per server, so that you are able to craft your own story arch.

This. Looks just like KOTOR. Good, but not for an MMO.

More instanced crap :( I don't care about cut scenes or voice acting. Don't want to be a "Star Wars hero right from the beginning". I want PvP. :(

Graphics and interface look nice though.

EDIT: Jedi right from the start :( Fail!

.

Same Efour that played on swg Chimmy server? or could it be that I remember you from eq2 gat forums? Name sounds familiar anyhow

edit: already been said

"looks like a single player game with optional co-op rather than an mmo"

KOTOR was good but I wouldn't pay a monthly sub just to be able to play co-op.

I really try not to get too excited ahead of a games release but try as I might I cant help getting excited about this game. Those videos show a lot of promise and even if it takes a more Guild Wars style approach to areas and instancing I still think this could be something special.

I predict 30,000 sith vs 8 smugglers. Going to defo play this, bit disappointed at the ancient system of combat (point and click) but wasnt expecting anything new. Should be a laugh.
