Hi guys, any idea how to get the usb ports to turn off on my EVGA X58? they are staying live so my keyboard/mouse, ext hard drive and my game pad all stay live?

mine too, though only the external hdd keeps on and an mp3 connected. The mouse swithces off. You can always turn off the PSU from its back switch if you can't find the bios option.

Same with every PC I use. Card reader light stays on, my brother and his PC, his mouse lights stayed on (Cheapy mouse must have been directly powered), I have a dell here which the kb lights stay on.

Ive never found a way to turn them off yet!

most modern mobos are designed to continue supplying power to ports whilst in "soft off" - it allows for wake up by kb/mouse etc.

its driving me nuts, the lights stay on the keyboard/mouse/gamepad and webcam and my My Book Studio 2 doesnt power off, :-(

Ah, perhaps changing the power srttings to something other than the default on the mobo may cure it . . . Never thought of that one!

what OS are you using?

iirc Vista/W7 has somewhat different power management settings than XP.

+1 RTFM

Disable the Power on by mouse and Power on by Keyboard in the bios. If that does not fix it there might be a jumper on the mother board called usb pwr or similar. I am quite sure the feature and how to control it will be documented in the manual.

And if all else fails e-mail evga support.
