Glass pint glasses to be replaced with plastic

Where has it said that they are going to be introduced everywhere? I thought they were looking at introducing in pubs/clubs that have had problems with glassing.

You really wish me to repeat the point I just made Fair enough.

BEER + REAL GLASS = WIN

BEER + PLASTIC GLASS = ****

TOTAL NUMBER OF PUBS DECREASING = FACT

PUBS + PLASTIC GLASS = LESS BUSINESS FOR PUBS

LESS BUSINESS FOR PUBS = LESS MONEY TO RUN PUBS = INCREASED LOSS OF PUBS

I imagine that's the government's utopia. People still buying alcohol (from supermarket) and paying tax on it, but reduced policing costs from less people going out to drink and staying at home instead. Maybe I'm just being paranoid...

The taste is exactly the same in a plastic glass, especially if its just out of the tap. Its the placebo affect that makes it not taste as nice, as you are expecting it not to, so it doesn't.

Thinking about it. When football matches got violent etc they didnt try to change anyhting about the experiance they banned the people from the grounds. Dont see why this cant be the case for pubs as well?

Actually they did change the experience - crowd segregation, alcohol bans in stadia, early kick-offs on police advice. Some of these initiatives were successful, others not so much. Also, while not strictly violence related, post Hillsborough-disaster they started implementing bans on terracing at football matches too because terracing wasn't safe.

Imo this is a sensible idea for clubs which have a reputation for bottlings etc, or clubs which have more than one floor (where the bottom floor is visible).

Iv been to clubs where all bottles where plastic and pints were in containers and didnt mind. I could see it being annoying in quiet bars and pubs though.

drinking out of plastic cups is cheap and rubbish can't believe people support bs like this, personally being glassed in the face is not a concern of mine or anyone i know you must visit some dodgey places or get yourself into trouble

not having a glass to smash over soemones head wouldn't stop all the a and e injurys just be people kneeing each other and pro longed fist fights rather then a quick end with a lot of screaming from random female bystanders and a bit of blood

clubs on the other hand should be their own concern and inititivate to use plastic (and a lot do already) why the goverment have to step in again?

Not when it's smashed over someone's head it isn't.

Just because it's plastic doesn't stop someone from hurting another person. They'll just find another way to do it.

It's just social engineering nonsense. It doesn't work. The main problem with alcohol related violence is usually the culture surrounding alcohol that we have in this country.
