Evening all,

got a puncture on my 330 and the tyre doesn't look salvageable... I don't really know the first thing about tyres so I was looking for recommendations, something middle of the range, branded but nothing too expensive. I take it the cheapest way to do it is to buy the tyre online and take it to a garage to get fitted?

The other side tyre is 255/35/ZR18/94W. Never heard of the make though (Hampir?).
So er yeah. spec me a tyre!

Cheers!

Not sure what to recommend on that size apart from the usual suspects:

Conti SportContact3, GY Eagle F1 Assymetric, Pilot Sport 2 etc

Often though you can get a local independant place to match an online tyre company with fitting included. Places like Kwik-fit etc you don't stand a chance but find a smaller firm with a decent rep and you should get a decent price if you're prepared to argue a bit.

Haven't a lot of people been going for those Vredstein Ultrac thingys? (can't pronouce or remember their name :p) Meant to be VERY good and long lasting without a mental price :)

Whilst this is a good option, (ultrac sessanta) it would make the car markedly nasty to drive unless he changed the rear as a pair.

If you're not in a position to do that, you need to look at the other rear tyre and find out if it is directional, asym or generic tread and match it to suit, preferably with something branded.

Ultrac Sessantas are reasonably priced but I don't know what your budget is.

Change the tyres as a pair - don't just change one tyre. The E46 can be a pain with different brands front to rear let alone on the same axle.

differnet fronts to rears didnt make too much difference to me, but then my car is more a workhorse that sits on the motorway more than having fun in the lanes.

deffo have the same on the rear though, dont mix and match. Also, take into account tyre wear.
I had a unrepairable puncture on one of my rears recently, if it wasnt for the fact the other tyre had plenty of tread i would have changed both.

wouldn't mix tyres on same axle of any car

I wouldn't too, through choice. But if it was a cacky 1.6 clio RXE you wouldn't really car too much if it was a pootly town car. If I owned it though, I would.

Like fox said, E46 is bad enough with front to rear differences, this is also true in the E60.

Thread hijack time!

Any recommendations on which tyres I should go with for my rover 25? 185/55/r15

Need something that will last a good while but also towards the cheaper end of the scale as I need 4 and i'm poor!

Haha I have been on the bay to see if i could get another set of rover alloy wheels with tyres as it would work out cheaper. The ones I'm using now cost 19 quid for the alloys and tyres with around 5mm tread :D

No I'm not that cheap £50 tyres would be spot on. The alloys I picked up are in poor condition hence looking for others.
