Just saw this over at Kotaku and thought people might be interested.

It is actually on the Marketplace right now which I thought was strange, since they usually release stuff on Wednesdays. But it is indeed up and I am downloading it right now :)

File size is 246MB and it costs 400points

I'll give my opinions on it after I've played through which should only be 2-3 hours im told.

Downloaded this earlier. Loaded up my last save which hadn't been touched for over 6 months. Was going through the game again on Hardcore / Insane whichever it is and it is extremely hard. Think I'm level 28 Engineer and I'm finding it really difficult. Be a while before I can try out the new DLC but I'll report back with my findings when I do.

To be honest I'm finding it pretty naff. Alright it was only £3 but all it seems to be is training simulators where you have to beat other peoples records.

I loved Mass Effect and went through it 6 or 7 times while clocking up around 40+ hours on each play through.

I was just playing a survival simulator and I reached the 11th minute, I was just so bored I stood there and let them kill me.

Oh god. That doesn't sound good! :o

I will give a better overall opinion once I've finished it, but so far I am not that impressed. Which is a shame because I enjoyed Bring down the Sky.

after seeing the thread title i had my hopes up for more ME goodness! but if its just battle simulations then i might give it a pass :( was hoping for more of a proper full side mission like Bring Down the Sky

I really liked it.

To the people saying they were standing for ages in the survival thing - turn your difficulty up :p

I accidently had mine set to casual from the last time I played it, I turned it up to normal and got killed a few minutes later.

If I could turn it up any higher then Insanity I would, the only times I died was when I did it intentionally so I could move on to the next one.

As did I.

It's not Bring down the Sky thats for sure, it's basically just a bunch of try and beat these 'high' scores of which I beat the first time round on all of them except some of the Capture ones, since there was no way to see where the actual points were on a few of the maps because they didn't show up on the HUD/Radar, so I ended up wasting a time looking around for them.

Basically if you enjoy repetitive tasks which serve no purpose you will love this, if not avoid it. This shouldn't have been released even as free DLC IMO. It's not the fact that I feel I wasted £3 its more a case of I want my 2 hours back :(

I will put it in terms most will understand, I actually found much more enjoyment in ANY of the side missions from the actual game then I did with this piece of poop.

Agreed, this has got to be the most shocking piece of DLC I have played. I can now see why this was released with no prior warning or promotion!

I just saw this on marketplace and actually was really hyped, shame that it sounds so terrible, would this work for some of the skill related achievements however?

As it doesnt sound like it has any other real value

I dont see why it wouldn't since they are basically using the same enemies that already exist in the game.

But to be honest if you have Bring Down the Sky already it's easier (and safer) to do the majority of them in that mission (thats where I did them anyway).

I'm really trying to hold back here, but I'm struggling.

There are so many haters on this section of the forum its just crazy! I am a member of other forums linked to xbox 360 and the people on there love the dlc, I come here to express my opinion too and all I see is "its crap, I hate it, its awful, how could they release this"

I hate to point fingers too, so no offence intended but Alrik I don't think I've ever read a post on this forum written by you that stated that you actually liked something :p Ofcourse I haven't read every one of your posts and I'm probably wrong but it sure seems that way.

And to Xink I read that it does count kills for the skills and weapons achievements :)

It's got nothing to do with being a 'hater', or at least not in my case and many others. Mass Effect was a sublime game because of its storyline, characters and settings, this is just a deathmatch in a cubicle. It's a complete departure from what made Mass Effect so great for me.

I'm hardly a hater, Mass Effect is one of my top 10 games in the past 5 years. I've put in well over 400 hours in the past 2 years and I will put in even more time closer to Mass Effect 2's release. Bring Down the Sky was also great so I'm not a hater of Mass Effect DLC either. I like the Idea of Single Player DLC, but only if it's worth while such as Lost and Damned, Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, hell even Bring Down the Sky was good.

I loved everything about Mass Effect and it was a pleasure to play through, but I actually had to force myself to play the last hour of the latest DLC while thinking "This cannot be all there is to it surely?".

There are plenty of games that I like they just aren't popular games i.e the games that get talked about around here.

Halo 2 - Sucked up 3 years of my life
Hitman Blood Money - Loved every minute
Mass Effect - Spent around 400 hours total with it on different characters
Red Alert 2 - Same as Halo 2, it was the game I played everyday before I got an Xbox

Etc.

Sure its different, I accept that - but I don't see how that makes it crap.

Maybe it's because other people have different points of view, Crazy I know! :p

I personally don't think its that bad. I mean people say its not how the game should be, Well its a holo suite, fighting holographic enemies. And you only do this if you choose to. I don't understand why holographic training sims wouldnt be part of the mass effect universe.

I like it, And I'm hoping it'll help me work towards my achievments that I'm yet to get.

i honestly thought this was going to be the fill in between me1 and me2, how wrong was i :( Poor effort by bioware
