My business idea...

Right, I've been an entrepreneur since the age of 12 starting up companies, however over the last 3 years I have stagnated having 0 projects on the go.

The time has come to change all that, and my proposition as of yet is a spate of Trance / Chillout club nights at smaller venues to test the water for the market and it is virtually non-existent!

Anyone here organised events etc? Would be very greatful if you can give any input into the idea.

Ja had a hosting company until 2006 (started at 13), which was doing well. Think it was the only reason i got into UCL personally.

then in 2007 I started zuney.net which was a Zune website which grew quite big until i forgot to renew the domain name and lost my partner in it. Had links with Microsoft etc.

I just tend to get bored of my projects quickly... Effort dies over time, these are 1 night events though so maybe they appeal to me.

Mate of mine i used to work with has set up a dance event thingy that goes to different clubs. Getting quite popular actually. Dirtypop if anyone has heard of it.

The thing is organising events is that you are going to be up against lots of other people all trying to do the same thing, often for crappy money but tolerating that to be seen as cool and to be part of the in crowd or just as a hobby.

If you can't get a good location, good crowd organised and a bit of a buzz going it will almost certainly just die.

Had a couple of friends try (rock in brighton and dance in leicester) and nothing came of it. They were pretty disorganised about it all though so who knows?

It's really part of a bigger plan, have to start the bottom. At the moment my biggest issue is capital. Small clubs I should be able to finance off my own back, but huge clocks with £3-4k upfront fees scares me a bit.

I think the general plan is put on these events given that trance is HIGHLY underplayed In SE england and london, if the events are successful run a good few more and show the results to larger clubs. As we move into large clubs hopefully book up some big names to earn some PR points for the organisation but obviously would be a way off unless it really took off. If it is successful, start a network and running more across the country until I'm buildin a fair bit of capital and treating people who help it grow with respect. Ultimately leading to the buying and running of a night club venue, populated with people who originally helped the business grow from the roots up.

There's ethical business practice for you! Oh and I wouldn't let it be a low grade night club, sound is one of my favourite senses so wouldn't run a gig at ANY venue with a poor sound system out of dedication to trance and chillout fans!

All you have to do is look at global gathering... thousands of people, but no where for them to go when the festival isn't on!

If it does get up and running I'm happy to turn to DJS on here and friends who wish to play etc.

I think he means he was 13 when he started it? and ended it in 2006.

Personal statement, you do get interviewed you know... and yes I got 3 A's but most places look more than grades and was a ratio of applicants to places was about 10:1

And if you also read, it says 2006 was the termination of the company, and started in 2003 when I was 13... that = 16 in 2006, i'll let you work out the rest.
