which uses less power out of a 7800gt or 8800gt?

'From memory' so I may not be right..but I think the 8800gt draws slightly more, there isn't that much in it - at least on idle, can't recall specifically during in game.

I have a pair of 7800GTX Cards in an old Opty 175.
Its clocked and has an old A8N-SLI with 4GB and the PSU I have on there is a huntkey 400w... So trust me but unles your PSU is a naff cheap-o job then it will be fine.

And yes, I have even played a few games on it too!

Well it's one of the really old school 480w Tagan PSU's, which were known for going bang, but right now it's running very quiet, so I'm hoping when I put the 8800gt in there, it won't need much extra power, so the PSU fan won't spin any faster... We shall see.

My entire rig needs to be whisper quiet as I hate noisy computers...

Clap your hands over yoru ears when you turn your PC on then. The 8800GT spins at max for 5 seconds on powerup. Sounds like a borrower's hoover.

buy a load of Xilence Red Wing fans

they're usually about £2-3, I use them to replace power supply fans, can solder them in

or if you're lazy like me, just strip the cable, tie them together and put some black tape over the join

My main rig is using a TT Armor.
When I got this case, my system was a Barton25@32 / NF7 / Rad9800Po and the silence compared to the previous case was unnerving... Plus it was a hell of a lot cooler too.

However, I noticed the thing was noisier over time and a year or so ago, I decided to renew the case fans... Oh, they were als odimmer too than they used to be, and I decided on the xilence ones too.

Great job and the case is silent once again.
