it gives that turbo kick

that the ST220 doesnt

i dont understand why so many people are commenting that the ST220 had to be broken. Its a naturally aspirated V6 that doesnt rev anywhere near as hard as the BMW straight six thats found in the 330i.

i noticed it doesnt "feel" that fast either. Look at the speedo, and it is. But it just doesnt feel that fast.

its the same as the effect that turbo diesels "feel" fast because of the high torque. BMW 120d for example, only has 160bhp or something and 0-60 in the high7s i think, But its got 260 lb/ft of torque in something the size of the 1 series. That will feel like its a rocketship, even though its not actually that fast.

Have you driven a stock 1.8T engined car mate?

No real turbo kick, unless you remap then its goes all peak power, its sometimes hard to know if a stock 1.8T engine is on boost or not.

You do get some feel the turbo has come on i suppose but its not like, WHEY TURBO WOOSH OFF WE GO, like some cars.

ive just spoke to a tuning place, they said 230 bhp is possible with a better intercooler, new bigger exhaust system and a remap

just a remap on its own will take it to 205-210 bhp they said.

to be fair i recommended the VR4 for the turbo kick

somebody suggested a 1.8T car after that, so i assumed they'd have that kick. Maybe the OP needs to take a drive.

octavia vrs

rs tuning leeds

Sounds "about" right, however i'd think you could get quite close to 230bhp with a stage 2 map and a forge 007p.

Depends which age VRS you go for, think the early ones had a smaller turbo since they only seem to map to 190bhp with a stage one.

Yea, never driven one so i'm not sure, i'd prefer the VRS i think, never liked the VR4 from a sitting in it point of view, same goes with those evo 4's, which is a shame cause they look epic on the outside.

No MOT? Why not?

Why is every car you view dodgy in some way? Just go and look at some nice ones with no alarm bells ringing for once.

If he sticks an MOT on it then great, but it could be a million reasons why it aint got one atm, failed the emissions due to bad turbo seals, failed on front control arms, etc etc, not worth taking the risk, main issue is you can't test drive the thing before you buy it.

Tell him to put a fresh MOT on it. It was last tested 1 year ago. A whole number of gremlins could have popped up in that time.
