Would be better off with a decent pair of Sennheiser's (HD555/595) or Goldring DR150's however the issue is these won't allow you to get any form of surround sound from the 360 unless you already have an amp. Otherwise you have to stick to stereo.
BTW if those A40's are 5.1 then I would stay well clear...the only form of surround sound that actually works in headphones is when Dolby Headphone is being utilized on a pair of decent stereo headphones.
I've used 2 'surround sound' headsets before, the sound quality was pap and the surround sound effect was pretty poor.
With my 595's in Dolby Headphone mode I can very clearly tell what is going on behind, in front and to the side of me. It's pretty sweet technology.
They use Dolby Headphone.

Guess you haven't had the HPX + Astro a40 mixamp then? lol.
HPX is a PC headset hence why it needs the A40 mixamp.
I've had basically every gaming headset out there and this is the best![]()
Seems quite odd plugging a 5.1 set into something that's outputting Dolby Headphone?
I wouldn't touch them for the reason above. I've had surround sets that cram lots of small speakers in for a "surround" effect, it just doesn't work.
