I missed a vital bit from my question. When they were in the basement bar. I'm not *that* dumb.
I will say the first time the actors switch from French -> English (on the dairy farm) it seemed pointless, but thankfully it wasn't too bad after that.
"Oh, I'm afraid I've exhausted my french.. do you speak english?"
Not wishing to sound like a pretentious ****, but I'm pretty sure the switch from French to English was necessary, as Hans Landa knew the Jews under the floor wouldn't be able to understand what they were saying.
