I have a Climate Camp on my doorstep...

Why did these soap dodgers have to pick one of the nicest parts of London? The worst part is I have no doubt when they go they will leave the place in a mess leaving some poor council chap to pick it up.

My only hope is that a fight breaks out between them and the ***** funfair that has also landed on the heath and they all disappear.

Climate protesters leave litter/mess behind them?

Errrrrr

Errrrrr

Nearly always, as well as massive bills to clear up and repair everything they have damaged, and massive policing bills for the operations that prevented them doing more damage...

I don't even know why exactly I don't like them.

I guess its because they make no damn effort to get the attention of the people who need to acknowledge climate change, namely little Mr and Miss Adidas and their 4 kids living in an estate, munching away on their plastic packaged dinner kits not recycling the waste. They're not going to spend the bus fare to go to see these lot, if they even know about it, they'd far rather spend it on a pack of fags or a few bottles of WKD (and they're not going to recycle the glass are they?!).

I'd guess that the people that might actually visit them, or indeed simply know about the event are people who already do recycle, and perhaps try and buy local produce already, not stuff from the cheapest seller overseas.

They don't make the effort to reach out and try and bring new people into the idea of saving the environment, indeed probably because these "hippies" are generally kids from well off families, they simply find the idea of trying to get Little Miss Council Estate to change her ways repulsive.

Funny, on TV they said "affluent area" in South East London ... my mate said "don't worry they said affluent".... DANG

Generally have my lunch there most days (as live and work near there heh).

You don't think 1,000 people turning a public area into a campsite inconveniences others?

What about the wire fence they have erected around the site? (source)

It's a public space. They are members of the public.

They are not preventing people from going onto Blackheath.

It is as inconvenient as a funfair.

Why is the Lewisham/Greenwich area something to brag about anyway? Slightly above average part of London. You can get expensive houses here and even in the worst parts of London.

edit: For example

Thats a pretty large house for the price considering its in London.

On your doorstep ey? Like, literally outside?

If so then ring the police and say they are causing noise pollution which is preventing you from getting to sleep.

Failing that throw soap at them.

I provided a source, that clearly shows they are, otherwise why are they erecting a barrier around the site?

That's denial on a massive scale, right up there with these people thinking their feelings aren't massively fringe.

My only problem with "do-gooders" is the perception they are invariably financially supported by daddies cheque book or the state through benefits. I do know 2 working people who took time off to go to a climate camp but I've always doubted that is the norm.

Other than the fact they are all hypocrites I don't mind them standing up for climate change, except for the fact that climate change happens in spite of us and has been happening for millenia and eras before us. If they wanted to do something useful, lobby for more nuclear power research and powerstations.

I think someone needs to pour a bit of oil in the fuel tank of a clapped out old banger, and just do circuits of the common :D

I think the DSS should have someone there permanently and each day the protesters are there they should lose a days benefits.

To get unemployment benefit you need to be "actively" seeking work. Sitting around protesting should lead to an automatic loss of benefits for that day.
