I have driven a 97 Almera GTi for the past 18 months. As much as I like my car I have been saving to upgrade sometime in the near future. When I read tush like what the OP has done with £4k (the car will blatantly total £4k when put back on the road), I wonder what thought process that he went through. Surely the ST220 was a better car?

Do they drive better than the ST220?

So how would ownership be passed on in this case where only the little green slip exists. Will the seller ask the DVLA for a new V5? Can you even do that?

And I still can't believe that the OP has purchased a car without seeing all the correct paperwork. To the OP, have you handed over all the monies?

Quote EVO magazine Skoda Octavia vRS mk1 "This is Volkswagens best performance product."

I was surprised when I first drove mine. I had a look around a Mondeo and they seem totally souless compared to the Skoda. Don't let the badge fool you!

Blimey.
I can't really say any more than that. No tax, no MoT and no V5? You must be one hell of a gambler or have money to burn.

I like the car, but this stinks something rotten.

I really hope it doesn't blow up in your face.

Lets not get carried away here, there is no soul in a VAG 1.8T engined car, certainly nothing thats otherwise missing from the Mondeo.

You would be surprised see I am qualified to comment as I have owned one for 5 years. Skoda also has one of the most active owners clubs. They are popular with modding and tuning (not my cup of tea). finally they don't attract unwanted attention and are therefore great for familys. (I don't think I would like to see my wife and kids getting car jacked!) but I am still enthusiastic about driving.
My Octavia is great, not had even a slight problem in 5 years and if you check out Briskoda you will find many other happy owners.
I am yet to see anyone rave about a Mondeo, I know they are great cars and dynamically very good so the only word I can come up with is souless?
Previously I have had Golfs and going back further, Fords.

I beleive that makes you biased.

There is an active owners club for the Mondeo and what could attract less unwanted attention than yet another Ford?

Plenty do.

Agree, both good cars in their own rights however and I hope this one lasts and isn't another one short lived.
