virginmedia: moving to non-cabled area

Im currently in wakefield with my 10mb broadband and tv M package. however im moving flats and found out new place doesnt take virgin.

I think i have to pay till end of my 12month contract yeah? so thats (6 x 32 = £192, ouch)

any alternative, im not sure if new flat has a BT line yet im trying to find out.

you can probably switch down to adsl on virgin or do they no longer do that? They used to at least.

will i have to join a new 12month contract though and anyone know what the cost will be to move to that package.

They shouldn't charge you really.

you'll be charged an early termination fee of the remainder of your 12 month contract unless you take up virgin broadband dsl service through a bt line with them in which case they will just renew the 12 month contract. i did this not long ago but then moved back to a cabled area and renewed the contract again

When Virgin was NTL I was in a similar situation.
I was moving home 8 months into my 12 month contract.
When I contacted NTL they asked for all of the details of where I was moving to and then, once they had confirmed I couldn't get their service at my new address arranged for the cancellation of my service with no penalty for early termination.

Really not sure if Virgin offer the same.

I recently moved from a cabled to non-cabled area. In the old place, was on 10mb broadband. New place, no cable. Four or so months of contract to run.

Spoke to them, they cancelled the contract without any cost.

but virgin adsl is one of the worst isps out there. i wouldn't take their service for free. it really is that bad.

Been on Virgin ADSL for 8 months. Never had 1 problem, meant to be 8mb down but I normally get 1050kb/sec so over the 8mb they stated.

Overall Virgin are a crap company though. Parents have TV/broadband at home since they bought out Telewest and its gone downhil ever since.

yeah im a bit wary of there adsl service, i joined cable for broadband as i got a really cheap deal and for what i use it was great. i had the 2mb but then when i moved they gave me 10mb as packages changed. now im working things out and looks like i will have to pay bt line rental then however much virgin are going to charge me for asdl if i move to non-cabled area.
