Driver problems are very subjective. Some people have more problems with ATI than Nvidia, and vica versa. I myself found the Forceware drivers to be a nightmare, especially the latest few releases, whereas the ATI ones just work and don't require too much swearing at the thing to get it working. That's in my experience
I hear what your are saying, but most games have. Nvida inside gaming adverts on them. which makes you think that the games support nvida more.
MSI HD 4890 Cyclone SOC 1 GB GDDR5 GTX 275 Reviewmy last card was an X1800XT and i noticed the Nvidia advert at the start of games suddenly changed to an ATI advert on some of the games i was playing
Ill usually opt for Nvidia if the performance is comparable, but i went for the ATI last time because they were kicking Nvidia's arse in the price bracket i had at the time. I did have to do some driver backtracking at times because of strange texture issues, but ive also had nvidia cards in the past where thats happened.
I've been searching for benchmarks / info for my new upgrade, and as far as i can tell the GTX 275's are around the same price range and performance of the 4890s, yet i also keep seeing "the 4890 is the best card in its price range". What's that about ?

The thing with ati cards is they are usually better value but when a new game comes out it sometimes takes them awhile to fix all the crashes. For example I got dark messiah around when it came out and it had horrible crashes with a fairly high end ati card.I had so many problems with that game and it took them months to fix it.So I got an nvidia card and there was no problems from there on.Never buying an ati card again.I think ive had 2 ati cards stop working on me aswell.Keeping in mind this was a good while ago but I really dont wanna risk it with another ati card again.
Think why do no ati card companys have no long warrantys?...think
If you were wondering what cards blew they were x850 and I think it was x1950
think you might have picked a bad example. Its definitely faster than a standard GTX275, ( though if you look through the individual benchmarks it doesn't always perform faster ) but the conclusion of the article says its noisy, consumes loads of power and is already at the peak of its overclocking potential...
Tom's Hardware - Benchmark HD4890 vs GTX275
I've still not seen anything that makes the 4890 the automatic choice....
I am getting the message to wait til the new ATI cards are released though. That seems to be the forum motto at the moment![]()

Is faster over all & that what counts, no one claim out right dominance which is very rare for anything.
The OP & your comment that i responded to said nothing about concerns about power, noise & over-clock ability.
Toms hardware is a joke so i will not even bother reading it.
