Just wondering what was other users of these forums first cars, mine was a 205 xs, i blew the headgasket and as a student i had no cash to pay to get it fixed so i read up and did it myself, along with recutting the valves and modifying the head, my love for cars stemmed from there.

K Reg 306 1.8 XT - what a machine. The immobiliser caught fire (located under the drivers seat) and after the electrical repair it averaged 10mpg. Happy days

V Reg Datsun sunny, I Loved that car, however I couldnt afford to put it on the road :(

Didn't stop me from learning the basics on a private lane though ;)

Pug 205 look. 1124cc of pure power!!! I didnt pass my test until I was 26 and had ridden bikes up until then including GSXR600's, Hayabusa, Honda SP-2.

So you can imagine how the car felt to me. Oh so slow. I'm amazed it never toppled over going around corners either. Moved on to a Pug 306 gti-6 now which isn't to bad value / performance wise in my opinion. Like my bikes on this car I've tweaked etc. Bilstein shortened shocks (yellow ones) all round. Eibach pro springs up front and 21mm anti-roll bars at the back. Lowers it about 30-35mm, not drastic amounts but enough to improve handling. I've also fitted a lighter flywheel and cams and re-mapped it (hmm I have spent way to much on this pug!!) Depending on the rollers it puts out 190-197hp (they all vary)

Thing I like is it doesnt look much but it goes pretty well :D

A beige D reg fiat uno. This was when I passed my test back in 1997 :D
My little baby lasted about a year until the headgasket went. :(

Astra 1.3 Merit 3 door estate, but it rusted away before I passed my test. I was a bit gutted because the number plate was probably worth a few quid but I didn't realise till the MOT had gone.

My proper first car was an E reg VW Polo 1.3 CL in metallic beige.

My dad did much better, his first car was a Jaguar XK150 :).

1976 Mini 850 with Cooper S disk brakes and lots of rust. Used as a getaway vehicle in an armed robbery by the person I sold it to when the MOT ran out...

'96 Fiesta Mk3 1.8D 'Sapphire Limited Edition'. One of the last boxy shaped Fiestas before the Mk4 bubble style. Paid £450 for it in 2004/5.

Terrible handling, severe body roll, rubbish brakes, heavy and underpowered engine up front. However, it did have electric windows and get this - TWIN AIRBAGS! Economy was incredible too; 75mpg was easily achieved.

X reg (no not a 2001 X, the olllllllld X MK1) Fiesta Bravo 1.3. :o

Cost me like £200 and cost me roughly £800 to insure, Endsleigh wanted £1,800 to insure it TPFT.
