A blind man complains repeatedly to the Police about cars parked illegally on pavements near his home and they can't be bothered to do anything about it.

Out of frustration, he threatens to let down the car tyres and write "No parking" on the windscreens and the Police are there like lightning to arrest him.

What a wonderful sense of priority

Too right IMO - criminally damaging someone else's property is not on.

neither is parking like a moron , living near a football stadium everytime a match is on all the streets around me get filled with the cars of idiots who cant park properly and think its clever to take up all the spaces of the people who live here.

theres an iceland near by aswell and people park infront of it near a bus stop while they go and do the shopping even though its obviously a busy road and one of the main routes leading into the city centre.

guess what they are to stupid to realise theres a car park around the back of iceland thats never more than 1/3 full.

are all motorists inconsiderate and brain dead?

btw the same car park is still never more than 1/3 full even when a football match is on even though all the other roads around it are full of cars lol

I get stickers that come off with a good soaking from my local cycling club. So long as the stickers can come off the windscreen it's not illegal.

Oh here in Belgium it's automatic 150€ fine for parking with 2 wheels on the pavement :D

He told me he was going to arrest me because I had threatened to let tyres down and threatened to write on windscreens."

He threatened to do it, he'd not actually done anything but was still arrested, ridiculous.

I'm a staunch supporter of the police and usually side thie police when I hear about complaints againast them, But if this is an accurate potraial of events then this is stupid. One of societies most vunerable members was forced to do something highly dangerous because of a group of selfish ****heads and the police are more concered with arresting him than trying to help him!

He should have popped all the windows out with his cane.

How did the police find out it was him, did he actually ring the police and say "im going to write on this car??"

Welcome to the UK!

If I threatened to kill you and your whole family and then got arrested for it, would you still think it is ridiculous?
I'm not entirely convinced, on the basis of this article, that this particular blind man threatened to kill any motorist or their family.

What he did do was threaten to inconvenience a number of incredibly selfish, inconsiderate drivers who were breaking the law - he was arrested by the Police, the drivers were ignored.

So they arrested him before he'd even done anything?

Utterly disgusting act - just goes to show that the police have lost all sense of how to do their jobs. At the end of the day, if they don't see any revenue generation from a crime they don't bother to look into it.

this sort of thing happens all the time - the police are just chasing easier, petty crimes to meet their targets so that the government can claim more crime is being dealt with... the stark reality is it isn't.

Councils have been negligent by allowing (maybe even encouraging) planning applications for new housing developments with insufficient parking space, in the hope that by punishing car drivers we'll all give up our motors and use ethnic peace bicycles instead.

The Labour government has also forced councils to charge for previously free car parks, or get rid of them altogether. It makes me

An awful lot of people are inconsiderate and brain dead. The HC states that you shouldn't park opposite or within 10m of a junction, but it doesn't stop the van drivers parking up by one of the busiest junctions near may house because there's a greasy spoon around the corner, or the bloke I saw park on a roundabout the other day.
