Hi Im new and I need some help, my cousin uses this forum loads and recommended it. I'm good at photo editing but I have been asked to provide a file in .dwg or .dxf file format, the AutoCAD software peeps seem hell bent on stopping me from creating a .dwg or .dxf file without paying them extortionate fees for their software which I will probably only use once.

Where can I find free or cheaper file converter or image tracer to save a .bmp/.jpg/.png file into the .dwg or .dxf CAD file format?

Thanks

I used Scan2cad in my old job, it ain't free though. Best program for this kind of conversion. I think you will be lucky to find a freeware Bitmap to vector tracer anywhere.

If you do let us know.

Nate

Hey Nate, how much is it?

Here are the source files I think I can use...

.im1 / .im8 / .im24 .im32 / .tga / .xbm / .xpm / .sgi / .rgb / .bw / .tif / .tiff / .icon / .xwd / .xcf / .psd / .pgm / .pbm / .ppm / .pcx / .pcx / .pcc / .pix / .matte / .mask / .aplha / .fli / .flc / .gif / .gbr / .gz / .xcf / .bz2 / .xcfbz2 / .fit / .fits / .c / .h / .dcm / .dicom / .eps

All those files and no .dwg or .dxf Grr!

If you send me a drawing thats dimensioned to the point that i can re draw it ill happily do it for you. Converters leave a lot to be desired leaving lines layrered on top of each other etc..

hmm this is more complicated than I realised. I'll work on it over the weekend get the dimensions sorted and send it thru on Mon if that cool bro? The image is simple, but the writing may take me a while.

Safe

can you post a link to the image so we can take a look at it? May be able to work something just from the image file.
