still cant update ATI driver 6months later

since i got my Dell Studio PC 6 months ago various
updated drivers for my ATI amd HD3650 have failed to install.

please see pic below for failure of the latest 8.513.1.1WHQ:

over the last 6 months ive tried uninstalling the previous driver software.
i've tried installing in safemode.
nothing ever works.

why ?

Are you sure you're installing the correct version? As in, you're not trying to install the 32bit version when in fact your OS is 64bit?

sorry i should have said im using vista 32bit and the driver is 32bit.

yup got the latest .net framework with service pack 1

1) Download Driver Sweeper

2) Uninstall Drivers in Vista.

3) Boot into Safe Mode & Run Driver Sweeper to remove all ATI files.

4) Reboot into Windows Vista & install Catalyst 9.8 drivers.

See if that works, I used virtually same method but switching from Nvidia to ATI drivers no problem at all.

I've been sceptical of recommending the usage of driver sweeper lately. It seems to be causing a lot of issues for people.

so what drivers are you actually using at the moment?

try un-installing and then running windows update, worth a shot

Could just be because it's a Dell tbh. My nephew has a Dell laptop and it's nothing but a pita trying to get anything other than Dell's drivers to install on it.

Have you checked the Dell website to see if they have their own updated drivers?
