Do you have a new console Ritual?

I usually read the instruction manuals from start to finish just to heighten my eagerness to play it, and usually I'll drop the box in excitement :D.

I like to sit my console down with a little Barry White, a good full bodied red and candlelight. I talk to it about the finer points of chainsawing and shotgunning opponents, and then we retire to the bedroom. Then the Mrs walks in, looks disgusted and goes and stays at her sister's. It blows over after a week or so, then it gets put under the telly next to the other consoles.

I assume you don't have a PS3? You wouldn't be able to touch it!

Hehe yup :D When I first opened the PS3 box, my first thought was 'oooh so shiny' then I touched it, then within about 20 seconds all the dust in the room seemed to have congregated on the PS3.
Oh well, it was shiny for a second :D

Rip the box open in as messy fashion as possible, hurriedly unpack the controllers and cables and then just plug and play while all the cardboard and plastic bags still lay all over the floor. :D

:p I often do this when I get new PC hardware to try out
keep it untidy as possible

This. I like new firmware upgrades, xbox dash upgrades etc. Loads of new buttons, functions to try. Games can be played afterwards.

rp2000

This.

I set it up, then configure EXACTLY how I want it, then play.

Then after a bit I go check again that i've got all the settings perfect, then play some more.

randal24, you old romantic...

I carefully undress mine from its packaging , place all packaging back in box which then goes in the garage, plug in and mess around with the settings then play a game.. got to have some foreplay!!

Having just bought a PS3, i treated it like a flat pack book case....

Carefully took it out of the box
Made sure i had everything
Read all the manuals
Then plugged every thing as per the manual
Then played around with it until 1am (Not like flat pack book case, lol)

I love to get the console up and running straight away, then into settings have a browse around and then get playing!

One thing I love to do with new games I've been waiting for AGES for, ie: Forza 2 and soon 3 :D is to get them on loaded (installed nowadays, ooh la la) and then wander through menus and settings etc.. putting off playing as much as possible even though I want to so much!

Tantric gaming? :D

I unwrap it, clear a space on my desk and boot it up and hae a look around.

The whole sniffing the newness isn't a console thing though. I know a few people that have to sniff books and magazines when they buy them. They just whack their snout into the middle of the spine and give it a good sniff. Weido's :D

Does the game veritably explode when you finally press play? :D

When i first got my ps3 i un-boxed it and treated it like it was some sort of holy book lol, taking each bit out more carefully than performing surgery!
