my current replacement Xbox 360 has just died. this is due to the overheating problem. i am unsure what to do next, should i buy an elite and hope that it will last longer than the last two, or should i buy a Playstation 3?

any idea if the latest Elites are designed any better or do they still overheat and die? i quite like the Xbox 360 as i already have games and subscription etc..

anyone gone from Xbox 360 to Playstaion 3?

I went from 360 to PS3 and I have played the PS3 only 4 times since I did that and I'm back to 360 lol. :)

PS3 is quieter, doesn't heat up as bad though which is good :)

Just got to sell it for some pennies :)

Most high street places are selling Jasper elites which run very cool. I just got one and its lukewarm round the back while gaming for hours. I've also got a very recent falcon that's about the same heat and noise wise.

Bottom line the newer ones certainly seem like they'd be more reliable. If you want a jasper elite ask at a high street store if they've got any elites with fable 2 printed on the back....if they have its a jasper. (saves peeking through the hole)

Yes, it WILL die, just like all of todays unreliable electronics. Saying that, it won't die for a good few years or longer if you're lucky. Just take good care of it and make sure to keep it in a well ventilated area and dust free.

The amount of things I have had die on me the last few years is now in the double digits. I'm really starting to get paranoid with expensive pieces of equipment I buy these days.

Saying that
I've had 11 consoles sent back from MS since I first bought one on release day. This is the elite lol.
They now give me
1.) A brand new console if it breaks + 3 months live instead of 1.

11 consoles? Are you on some sort of medication? lol. Who supports a product that has died on them so many times?

At the risk of jinxing myself i've had mine since xmas and with extensive use its still going strong - you get it fixed for free with a weeks turn over so its not that bad and you can buy lots of great games for cheap - lots of chice - no brainer in my opinion :)

They get repaired for free? lol.
I actually went out and bought another 3 in the time they broke so I have 4 perfect xbox's atm :) I don't like waiting for stuff lol. :p

Why do you need 4 xbox's? Kids? One for every room?

Had to get rid of some unwanted money?

No basically,
I've had one that broke..
Bought another same day as I sent it off.. then by chance had 1 break and another break @ my friends.. so bought another

then got one REALLY cheap so..

4 :) ahha

Now atleast if one breaks I should have one to play on.
No kids, I'm only 18 :)

Make sure it's the new Jasper design (can tell by looking through flap on the box, and check it's Current rating.. I believe it should say 12.1A..

lol i read this as "if i buy an xbox 360 elite am i likely to die" :o

Was thinking the fanboy wars must have gotten much worse :D
