I have the chance to upgrade from the system in my signature the only problem is which Intel X58 motherboard and memory? I'm right in thinking this is the CPU of choice still? I just need some input on what to pair it up with  Also I have Windows 7 Pro Edition on pre-order so I'm hoping I won't have any problems with my new i7 system? any advice on either would be appreciated as I hope to order ASAP :D

i am using windows 7 ultimate Microsoft Action Pack Subscription (MAPS) & my main rig, & it runs very smooth indeed.

i have fully updated it & done the direct x updates plus i have turned off some services inc the index stuff as that is a pain.

i would say get a asus mobo as i have used many with no problems at all.

the i7 is more widespead & will be for some years, i know the i5 may be cheaper & the same speed or so but the socket will be a mid range one.

I have an asus rampage II extreme i know it costs a lot but i like it. i have the same memory as the other guy linked got my I7 running @4.1 on air cooling, Very nice ocing board

I had looked at the rampage 2 extreme (very nice board) but sadly it was out of my price range.

Same thoughts here.........the Rampage is just a little bit pricey and I'm not sure what extra's you get over the P6T Deluxe v2  Any other boards worth looking at? Also will my PSU be ok with an i7 system and an ATI 4870

Right been reading around and came acroos the Asus P6TD DELUXE and Asus P6T WS Professional now I'm even more confused wish Asus would just make a top, mid and bottom end board  Anyone know what the difference is between these two boards and the Asus P6T Deluxe V2 are they worth spending the extra cash  Almost forgot will I be able to use my TRUE on the X58 board

I did quite a bit of research before deciding on the P6T Deluxe v2, never looked back since. I had a TRUE on mine before I went watercooled, it'll fit fine.
