Hi all,

Need to replace the two front tyres on my Civic Type R.

Standard fitment at the moment is 225/35/19. However, these are pretty hard to come by locally and quite expensive.

Can 235/35/19 be fitted instead?

Thanks is there any way of telling? Was wanting to order the tyres online.

Any other opinions?

Just try and stick your finger between the back of the tyre currently and see how much room you've got to play with atm. Should be fine, i can't imagine they come out of the factory with 1mm to spare!

Will also alter the ride height and speedo readings by a fraction, since the 35 (relating to the size of the sidewall) is a percentage of the width (235 rather than 225).

So in total you had 157.5mm of sidewall with 225/35/19, and you'll have 164.5mm of sidewall with 235/35/19, so a small increase of 7mm. I can't be bothered to work out the difference in circumference as well :p

It seems like its too close for comfort - 225/35/19 it is.

Went for the forum controversial choice - the Falken 452 at £95 odd each which is pretty much 50% less than every other decent branded tyre in this size..!

I'm on Falken 912's at the moment and after 2 weeks (1000miles) im mightily impressed with their performance and grip, much cheaper than my usual tyres too, saving about £50 a corner :D
