Playstation 3.00 (1/09/09)

Looks alright, nice to see some issues being sorted (clock), and good to see they are getting ready for the video store system (at last :D)

Was really hoping for cross-game mic chat so am not that excited about 3.00 now. What's this about it possibly being down to EA that there is no cross-game chat then?

Implementing it would break some of their older games apparently so obviously EA don't want that.

I am not keen on it it defaulting to the What's New screen. Sounds like the crap on NXE where it takes you to some advertising screen by default. I suppose as a free service it was expected, but I have been relatively happy to date that no advertising exists in XMB, whereas NXE is full of the crap.

I am kind off used to it automatically being already selected on the game in the drive so I can press X to load up without even changing channels.

I'm pretty sure I read that there is an option to switch that off and go back to how it is now.

I've also read that BBC iPlayer will be added on the XMB with 3.0. Whether that will include the much ancipated HD version remains to be seen.

In all....roll on 3.0:D

There is now a drop down on the XMB called "TV." Looks like they will be adding more tv features.

Question... is the new bbc iplayer on the xmb just a shortcut to the webpage? Because I found the webpage to be hard to read and clumsy. Or is it a new interface?

The webpage you should see on PS3 is

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/bigscreen/

Not hard to navigate or view at all. They have had this interface available for a while now (for Wii, PS3 and "TV" users).

Its just the web browser I hate using. Will the new bbc iplayer in the xmb just start up the ps3s web browser and into the iplayer page? or will it be like the new music video feature?

The iPlayer shortcut is just a URL shortcut to the BBC iPlayer webpage. No HD and no smooth playback using the Flash button, I suspect.

looks like there are a few improvements but mostly seems to put the store in your face and gives more ways for them to make money :(

might be a bit prettier tho

I agree its stickin the store in your face but in all honesty this is a free service so it is something they are gonna push.

The Whats New while pushing the store, the first thing it takes you to is your last 3 games you played. I think thats great to be honest.

I cant see how this is is in anyway useful. If the last game you played is still in the drive, then currently the system takes you to it by default when you turn it on. If you want to play another game on your top 3, then you have to get up and change the disk anyway so its a complete waste of time
