Nvidia GTX 295 costs £16.41 extra per FPS compared to a HD 4890 in Crysis.

Cheapest Nvidia GTX 295 running Crysis at 1900x1200 = £340ish = 52fps

Cheapest AMD/ATI HD 4890 running Crysis @ 1900x1200 o/c = 140ish = 40fps

Difference per extra frame for buying a GTX 295 over HD 4890 = £16.41 per frame :eek: :p

As most people around here have been saying for awhile buying a 295GTX is madness.

Would be interesting to see results from a few more games tho.

EDIT: Would also be interesting to see what the o/c result on the 295GTX did to the price.

Yeah very very true, I didnt overclock the GTX 295, would have done if I had thought about this prior so abit inconclusve but still . . .

Also for example running a i7 920 rig with same benches both should scale higher but the cost of an X58 rig will be more so it counters it out.
 
And it still can't max out Crysis can it:rolleyes:

Just shows us what mugs we are, buying £200+ GPU's that can't max out every game is a joke.

You could buy one of those crappy kiddy consoles for that price and play crappy games with no hassle of FPS:D

Any GPU at £200 tht can't max out games should be illegal.

Is not really its pretty cheap when your work it out on a daily basis :D

eg: lets say you buy/ upgrade every 3 years at say £1000 thats only 0.93p a day now when you compare that to a pint. :D

And even if you spend 2 or 3 times that its still a very cheap hobbie.


(Thats how I justify it anyway :p)

God!! you make me feel loads better already, used to blow over £100 every weekend on the bindge.

Spending / wasting money on a PC is EASILY worth it compared to drinking.
 
i had a choice between a pair of 4890 and a 295

i got the 4890s [stepping down from 285 SLI]

noticed no difference

the 4890s are faster than a single 295 in most things

and also cost a more than £70 less

how much per extra km does a ferrari cost compared to a highly tuned average car? OP you must be one sad sad person... you need to enjoy life more.

Ferraris are lame firstly. Secondly how does it make any sense to compare graphics cards to sports cars?

As for Nelly being one sad person, I don't see him running from thread to thread being negative at any mention of ATi and spouting nonsense about 'premium' and 'quality' that they've heard directly from nVidia.

most of my last posts are are in the pc games section because unlike most people here i buy hardware so i can enjoy my games better so you are just spouting crap out of your a$$ now. however, it was a tiny bit fun in the past... winding up the ati boys which are more than plenty in this website. anyway, find someone else to bother or "debate".

As for apparently winding up the 'ATi boys', that's a blatant lie. There was no winding up, you were serious about what you were saying, as well as your 'little buddy' Michael.

lol Ibiza 1991, 1994, 1996, Tenerife 1998, Magaluf 2000, 2004, 2009, out every weekend virtually since 1998 upto June this year, clubbing wasting £100+ every weekend lol.

Nothing wrong with trying to help people save people money for same performance, not my fault people getting ripped off by Nvidia pricing.
