Heres another which shows the black brilliantly, the actual clip playing is not full screen, its where the stars end so you can see how good the contrast is...

Deffo get a 1080p screen if you have good eyesight. To me, the difference between 1080p and 720p is clear.

If you don't have good eyesight, then just get a 720p. The pixels will be bigger and you'll be able to read text on your HTPC better.

This is how I feel too;).

...... having problems with my X800GTO. Not sure if it's a driver problem (can't seem to get the proper ATI drivers installed and I think it's using the Microsoft implementation), or that it doesn't like 1080P over VGA. Might have to end up buying a HDCP graphics card and DVI->HDMI to get the full 1080P. Any thoughts?

My TV (which is a different make/model) only does 720p over VGA. For 1080p it's HDMI only

I've always found that I've brought the best I can afford as I know if I went for the lesser to save dosh I'd end up buying the higher range not soon after, thus buying twice. I know what I'd do to save the small chance of disappointment/regret. Each to our own though!

Bought the 32" LG 3000 for the bedroom yesterday (£340, haggle instore 4tw :p)

So far looks ace, and sounds pretty good also, at least a lot better then i expected it to sound ;o so much so that i dont really 'miss' not having my 5.1 system from downstairs.
