Changed the colour of my alloys

That looks great when cleaned up. The only time black wheels don't work too well is when they tyres get dirty. At least they look better than they did before, certainly like it cleaned up.

I've spent the last hour looking around at MX-5s (MK1 NA shape, 1.8) as the CTR is hopefully going in November to free up some £££. Hopefully I can get a clean one like yours. Any tips on making sure I get an LSD and leccy windows? Hoping to spend less than £2k though.

NOOO!!!

Your sig did make me wonder what was going on!

Although after receiving a quote today, for a boiler install amounting to £3,200 after ours went pop last week, I have to say that I have been pondering similar thoughts to yourself, and indeed about an MX-5. I really don't want to let the CTR go though.

Yeah, sadly I have ~£3k of roof work to pay for in the near future. This is what happens when work goes slower than your lifestyle though. Lesson learnt, and I realise I can have just as much fun in an older car that I will own out right and now im old enough, I can insure it for less than the CTR despite my Baghdad postcode.

I'll miss the CTR, no doubt about that, but I don't use it for what it's intended for anymore, just gets dragged to work and back and gathers thousands of stone chips. Time to move on!

You need to get an import to get a LSD. On the whole the Jap ones are better specced than UK ones. For example mine has electric windows, electric mirrors, air con, electric aerial and LSD.

Imports are usually better specced than UK cars and are often cheaper like for like, they're slightly more to insure but nothing significant. Imports are also likely to have less rust. Only downside is that there may be little or no history; but there's not much to wrong mechanically really, even there is it's usually very cheap to repair.

Keep an eye on the members forums and PH, both of my mx5's came from those sites. But do keep an eye on AT and ebay, bargains do actually appear now and then on ebay.

If you're not that bothered about cosmetic dinks than you should be able to get anything you want mk1 wise bar FI really for £2k.

November should be a good time too, as winter will be looming and people may be looking to shift.

Imports that have actually been in our country for any significant amount of time are, if they are as they came in, likely to have more rust - they are not undersealed from the factory to any (or a suitable) degree as they don't salt the roads in Japan, amongst other things.

An import that's been here through a winter or two will most certainly have the startings of some fairly nasty corrosion if it's been left uncared for (or not cleaned off with a pressure washer) - and when most of this stuff has been over here for 10, 15 years now, it's worth digging about and making sure.

Thought that goes without saying since Japan doesn't grit it's roads like we do. The undersealing from factory for UK cars is rubbish anyway.

Decent importers should underseal the car on arrival. But if Dup didn't already know, the places to check are the sills, arches and under the bootlid.

Looks fine:confused:

It seems to be very marmite the towing eye, so is the rear one. :p

It is a M/1994. Well I bought it with those alloys, but getting them powdercoated was ~£115. Then got a catback exhaust too, which is one of the mx5parts ones, I like the sound and the cheap cost is a bonus. Then the tow eyes were like £30 on nutz, makes it a little different from the normal mx5's you see. Oh and got white reflector at the front and side repeater. Thats about it really. :) Makes a nice noise and I like the looks of it, so I am fairly happy. Just about to sort my suspension out and then finally brakes need doing. Then of course I wouldn't mind doing something about the lack of power.

The towing eye looks ridiculous, so what if it makes it look a little different, straping a turd to it would also make it look different but you've not done that.
