The only ones ive watched so far are, band of brothers and xmen last stand, im only using them on my pc so far (spec in sig) theese have both looked pretty good, im gonna invest in a stand alone player to see what theyre like on my 32" 1080p telly.

I notice Leon is out on BR next week, and it's the full directors cut.

Really hope it's not a naff transfer.

I've still to watch the one Blu Ray movie I've got yet, keep thinking I need to wait until I beef the sound up before giving it a go :)

35mm film yes, but I don't understand the "Old films are irrelevant" bit. Also saying 35mm makes 1080p look like **** is a bit silly, 1080p is perfectly good enough for home projection.

Personally I can't wait to see what North By Northwest looks like when it comes out in November, it's getting an 8K rescan so should look awesome :)

People automatically assume that old films = bad, not realising that some of them are filmed in pretty high quality! Nothing wrong with 1080p of course, merely suggesting that it isn't the last word in quality. Bakara is supposed to be a very good example of what an 8k rescan can do, but apparently it's a bit arty and poncy (so used as a demo disc :D)

i have to say this was one of the worse films i've seen on blue ray. loads of motion blur and not very sharp with all the scenes accross the world.

i was expecting more but was very disapointed

want to see sharp watch Casino Royale. 100x better than jumper

yes and its about bloody time!

i dont own any blurays with poor transfers as i do tend to check the reviews before buying them. i dont agree with the layercake comments though, I thought that was very good over all. there are a few soft scenes, but nothing like the sd release which was awful in places.

24p, btw, is not a garantee for smooth playback. it never has been.

The Shining. incredibly good transfer.

I thought everybody knew Gangs of New York was terrible.

All in all, the 'Gangs of New York' Blu-ray is a travesty. It might look acceptable on a small screen -- in fact, I played it on a 17" LCD monitor while I was listening to the audio commentary, and it looked pretty good there; the edge enhancement was still visible, but not quite as distracting at that size -- but any decently-sized home theater display will magnify its flaws. The disc may look better than the old DVD edition, but that's damning it with faint praise. By High Definition standards, it's just terrible. Blu-ray is capable of better than this.

I read all my reviews from highdefdigest.com and blu-ray.com before purchasing anything these days.
