Just finished Farscape... my life now feels frelling empty *POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

Wow I had completely forgotten about farscape (I was addicted to it when it was on bbc2 back when I was all of 10-11), can remember both the first episode and how that took me in without me ever expecting it too, and the last one of season 4 with that annoyance at that being the end (I wanted more)

Dont think theres much that tops it (well im re-visiting ds9 at the moment and when that gets to the dominion wars it gets nearly as good)

I remember watching Farscape, at the time I thought it was pretty good but it never grabbed me like SG1 did. There was something about Stargate that absolutely gripped me. It does go down hill a bit when O'Neil and Hammond leave the show (well their main roles) but it was awsome.

Couldn't agree more. I like your description of Kryton, very accurate.

Have you watched DS9? Its very similar to B5.

How about 'Andromeda' for a series to watch.

It might be less heard of compared to some shows being mentioned here.

I never did watch it all, or even get halfway for various reasons.

So I've watched the first six episodes of this on the back of this thread, and better than BSG and B5? Really?

It's been largely dire so far. Poor acting, stilted camerawork and music, uninspired action sequences, and pretty terrible plots. Nothing seems to flow, and things just happen in a wholly unlikely manner ("Hay, I must be timeshifting! Because as an astronaut from modern-day Earth, I would immediately be able to recognise this!"). It's like original series Star Trek, only without the charm.

I assume it gets better? Are there proper over-arching plots later on? Because I'm not really sure I can be bothered with a "monster of the week" style series like this for much longer.

You do realise that B5 fits this description EXACTLY for most of the 1st season, except worse, right?
I've never watched early B5 though, only the later stuff.

As I said, I'm willing to give it a chance if it improves significantly, I'm just getting pretty bored of its current format. There's so much other stuff I'd rather watch than it if it's going to stay this bad.

Give it some more time, Farscape imo is the most unique Sci Fi there is. I'm tempted to watch it again now but I'm halfway through X Files :D

Just started watching the first and only season of Space Above & Beyond... seems a decent premise in a similar vain to BSG... 23 eps so will keep me busy for a week or two. WOn't be worth making a thread about though. :p

Hmm what to start next as a "serious project"... maybe Stargate SG1? ANy other suggestions (that aren't Trek)?

Why not Star Trek? DS9 is amazing, it takes a while to get going but once you get immersed in the story and the characters like Worf, Quark and Garack its epic.

Stargate is also very good but there's far too many filler episodes imo. If you like long immersive stories I would chose DS9 over Stargate, but both are very good.

Prepare for MAJOR dissappointment after the awesomeness that was Season 6... you will be almost in tears over it. The story falls apart and everything goes to ****.
