The cost is going to be around the same.

Pros (Akasa Neo)
Don't need to buy indiividual VRM sinks
Silent
2 slot

Cons
Need to buy thermal paste
3 pin(can't plug into vid card)
converts into 4 pin(fan stays at 100%)

Pros (Accelero Twin)
Bigger = better?
Silent
Don't need to buy thermal paste(mx-2 pre-applied)
4 pin(controls thru pwn and can be plug into vid card)

Cons
3 slot
VRM sinks don't stick well
Will have to buy separate VRM sinks or thermal epoxy

As for temperature differences
I couldn't find a review or comparison between the two

that's a bit harsh in saying it's a con by the neo not having any compound, if you've only got a single gpu chip then neo all the way

what have read about the Akasa Pro, wont really effect temps, but will make your g card so much quieter, sure the other will bring temps & noise down a good bit :)

I have the twin turbo on my factory OC'ed 8800gt and i'm happy with it.
Vrm sinks sick well once surface is clean.
I cant plug it into my GFX as it has a two pin so i use a molex instead.
Its not that quiet imo even at 7v i can still hear it unless i run it via the fan molex on my bequiet psu (undervolts it more).
I idle at 43c and load it stays below 50c (again with low rpms)

Not at all

On my 4850 1gb my temps were in in 60's now with the neo it's it the 30's and it is also quieter

I would take the Vortexx as it exhausts the hot air out the rear of the case. It only cools the memory and core and does not cool the VRM's so you will need to buy something to cool those.

My vote the Vortexx. Looks the biz and exhausts out of the case.

Depending on your card though, you list not having to cool VRMs as a Pro. I intend to buy a pair of these neo's for my 4870s, and definitly intend to buy extra sinks for the VRM area of the cards.

Which is no biggie but I would advise you look at cooling the VRM of your card if you choose a Neo.

Edit: Pasty beat me to it on the VRM issue! Dang you!

my bad erroer on my part

i have to purchase vrm ssinks with the akasa

so the factor that'll help me form my decision is

how much of a difference in temperature is ther b/w them?

if i have to buy seperate vrm sinks for the akasa don't i have to buy vrms that are tiny?

as for vrm sinks zalman vs. enzo vs. scythe

For temperature drops, I've seen anywhere between 15-30c drops over stock cooling, depending on application and the case there featured in.

As for the VRM cooling, Akasa make 4mm high ramsinks that they recommend. However, would love it if someone could measure the clearance height as I like the look of the Zalman (23mm high!) red ramsinks to use on the VRM area.

lol! i would to put in zalman's red ramsinks

as for the temp diff, I was asking temp diff for accelero vs. akasa

I'm assuming the accelero cools better

btw is 67C idle on 4850 fine? btw if i hook a 92mm fan on the heatsink it drop it by 10C.... so at this time it's at 57C idle

There is 12mm clearance between the vrm's on my 3850 Pro to the base of the fan housing on the Vortexx Neo. I cut up a old copper heatsink i had from a 6800GT and stuck it to the vrms with thermal tape. Works a treat.

own both :P

Pros (Akasa Neo)
Don't need to buy indiividual VRM sinks
Silent (not really)
2 slot

Cons
Need to buy thermal paste
3 pin(can't plug into vid card)
converts into 4 pin(fan stays at 100%)

It comes with termal paste but ofc you may want acs or mx-2
The 3 pin can be plugged into the motherboard via an extender.
You could volt it via 4pin to run at 7v instead of 12v

Pros (Accelero Twin)
Bigger = better? Yes much better forget how much by maybe 5c +
Silent Yes
Don't need to buy thermal paste(mx-2 pre-applied) True
4 pin(controls thru pwn and can be plug into vid card) comes with 3/4pin & a molex with a 7v or 12v header

Cons
3 slot True
VRM sinks don't stick well very true
Will have to buy separate VRM sinks or thermal epoxy some termal tape is fine

Also I had both on 4850s & i choped of the stock cooling for the vrms & it worked fine.

i don't have a saw to saw off the vrm....

arg...

im thinking of buying the scythe vram heatsink with the accelero TT

btw to the person above me

heard these coolers aren't good enough to cool the 4870 and 4890

those cards get a lot hotter i hear

How easy is it to cut?

i heard you can even snap it off

on the accelero TT do the vrams stick?

Pretty easy 2 mins in a vice

any1 who says they can snap it must look something like this :

The stock vrams on the TT dont stick at all the ram barely does, buy some of this to replace the stock tape.
