I have had ENOUGH of the rubbisH that people spout about Berbatov: he doesnt score enough goals, he doesnt run hard enough, SHUT UP
Berbatov is a class player, the backroom staff know his qualities, but our thick fans are going to ruin him.
The man has first touch and balance that are out of this world, if he wants to he can literally keep the ball against anybody, he can bring the ball down from any angle, at any speed, any height, under pressure, absolutely anything. He is part of the reason for our much improved defence last season, you only have to look at how much Spurs and us suffered at first when he isnt there to win hoofed clearances and keep it until there is someone to pass to, I WAS CRYING FOR HIM TO COME ON IN THE CHAMPS LEAGUE FINAL, IF EVER THERE WAS A TIME FOR SOMEONE WITH SUCH GREAT BALL RETENTION AS THIS MAN IT WAS THEN, but when he came on it was already too late, we were chasing
My head feels like its going to explode when I hear 'the only stat that matters is goals for strikers'. ERM NO IT DOESNT, PERHAPS WHEN THAT PARTICULAR STRIKER OFFERS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO THE TEAM OTHER THAN GOALS, SUCH AS JERMAINE DEFOE, THEN POSSIBLY, but not when your striker is the top assist scorer in the league
He was 4th on the actim index, last season when he played we averaged 2.48 points per game, when he didnt we average 1.98, BIG DIFFERENCE.
The problem is thick football fans think because he isnt scoring all the time, and running around spending 50% of the game out of position it means hes terrible?
The fact is he isnt meant to be scoring all the time at UTD, he doesnt play like he used to at Spurs. At Spurs he was given licence to literally rip people apart, he took people on, shot from outside the box, with his left, 5050 chances. At UTD he gets the ball and passes it, he made the 6th most succesful passes in the league last year, and he took less than 50% of the shots he took at spurs. He took 43 shots for us last season, and took 93 in the season before at Spurs.
Berbatov IS quality, he will only get better as long as we dont ruin him, all this and he didnt even have a pre season with us. Jesus Christ.
