HTC Hero, coming July on Orange and T-Mobile, makes me want!

That discount has already been included

The exact same deal on dialaphone works out much cheaper: http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/phone/HTC_Hero/

Also add £50 cashback through quidco/topcashback :D

Thanks.

I prosume that £17.50 for 6 months is what makes it cheaper then?

Do you know if that discount is applied on my orange bill or through dialphone's own cashback method?

it says by redemtion so you have to send off a photocopy of your bill to dialaphone at certain periods over the contract term, they will then send you a cheaque.

I'm really tempted to put this ROM on but I'm still a little wary... Is there any way to revert the phone back to the default ROM if I don't like the modded one for any reason?

Apparently the next update will be OTA so might mean the official release will keep all your files etc...

Why don't you use your contacts on Google? Then they're always on Google servers...

Yeah I did put them on google but they don't seem to have an option to retrieve them once wiped...

I just installed the new ROM and all my contacts were on my phone after the wipe.

Sync'd from Google after logging in for the first time.

This 1.5 ROM is amazingly fast!

I bit the bullet and installed the 1.5.1 custom ROM. It looked so easy to do so I felt compelled to install it.

First impressions are that it is very fast! I shall play with it for a couple of days and see if it stays that way :)

if ordering a hero now would it come with the 1.5 rom on ? im seriously thinking of nding my o2 and getting one on the orange tarrif a couple posts up.

It wouldn't come with the ROM that people are installing on it because it's a custom one that someone has tweaked in their own time.

Can someone on Orange give me a hand please? After installing the 1.5.1 ROM I have no APN settings so I cannot retrieve data using my phone and therefore have no internet access etc etc

Can someone list the APN settings for me? They can be found in the settings menu under Wireless Controls > Mobile Network Settings > Access Point Names

Cheers.

EDIT: Thinking about it, I'm not sure if that would work because the settings might be different for each individual. I'll give Orange a bell...

EDIT 2: Sorted!

What are the down sides?

It rocks with the custom roms on its so fast and smooth just makes the overall enjoyment more now, i cant' say i have a downside with it personally.

I had this this morning on the bus without realising as last night I was at home using WiFi.

This is where two contracts came in handy so I whipped out my E63 and had a look for the APN settings.

I don't know if it was in the readme or anything but I didn't notice that the APN settings would disappear! (Although it makes sense really as it is meant to be a multi language/location release).

Guys,

For those who followed the unlockr guide - the step where you backup the ROM - where does that get stored? In case I was to revert back to bog standard?
