Chelsea banned from signing players for 2 transfer windows

I expect it will be reduced on appeal to 1 transfer window.
You're probably right, Roma got done by FIFA for the exact same thing in regards to their acquisition of Mexes, it was a 12 month ban, reduced to 6 on appeal.
I don't think we'd have used the christmas window anyway, if we need cover for ACON players then we can recall some youngsters, or even get a couple of players in on loan.

I don't actually think this is that much of a big deal considering the depth of our squad.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the ban gave Kakuta the opportunity to break into the first team and become a star?!

He's an exceptionally talented player from what I've seen, I was stunned when I heard how old he is, he plays with the skill and positioning of someone 10 years older.

Oops, I bet Platini is having an orgasm.:p

I think the club thought something like this was going to happen as they've recently let lots of youngsters go out on loan deals, obviously knowing that they might need them sooner rather than later.
We won't be affected by not being able to buy anyone this Jan but next summer might be different as a few of our core players are getting on a bit.
We've got enough youngsters to cover us for 18 months and we've just got a few more promising ones so if they come on it won't be a problem.
Kakatu himself is awesome and will probably have to jump up to the 1st team sooner than expected.

Just notice this snippet on F365

A restriction of four months on his eligibility to play in official matches is imposed on the player

Does that mean Kakuta cannot play for us in first team games for the next 4 months? This seems ridiculously harsh.

If this stands then it could be a big problem for us next summer (and season). I don't think it will stand though - hopefully will be reduced to just 1 transfer window.

It seems like one of those decisions which is overly harsh and will then just be reduced on appeal.

Not if he's done what has been alleged. Players have contracts for reasons, they can't just break them as and when they like.

Im sure Chelsea will appeal and win , not sure exactly what was wrong with the transfer in the first place but in general the only thing that is going to affect big clubs is no transfers for X summer windows (winter window is a bit of a joke)

Surely at the time we signed him (just turned 16) he would have been on a youth contract. Ok so compensation may not have been paid but how is that kakutas fault?

Allegedly yes. He breached the terms of his contract which meant he could join Chelsea for free.

Wow! Didn't see this coming.

That's going to be a nightmare for them when Drogba, Mikel and Essien go to the ACON!

No, it really won't.

Our games during that period are:

9th Jan - Hull (A)
16th Jan - Sunderland (H)
27th Jan - Birmingham (H)
30th Jan - Burnley (A)

We can easily get results at those clubs with or without the above 3, we have strength in depth.
