Im thinkin of gettin the iPhone but i dunno if i should get the new 1 or get the older 1.

I only really have £35 month max for a contract

you can open an iphone contract for 35£ a month but i think the length of contract is 2years

or you could buy it on PAYG it comes with a years worth of free web usage but also is a hefty price tag of from £440

or wait for the 4G poss next year

remember most things get cheaper the longer you wait:D

If tell us what your current phone is and what you like and don't like we should be able to tell you if an iPhone is worth it. You can get an 18 month contract for £35/m + handset price depending on model and capacity.

well i have a k750i and the down button is failing badly now, common fault i know. I am wanting to go on the web and i want cool aplications. I dont like Nokias or samsung, Im not bothered how good the camera is as long as its 2mpix and not bothered and video either. Just want it really for web, music, pics, and cool stuff

People will say most Windows Mobile phones will do all of the above and they will. But if you want ease of use and not worry about which of the dozens of web browsers, music players and photo viewers are the best then get the iPhone.

I did last month, after using Windows Mobile devices for 6+ years. I find Safari on the 3GS quick to startup, load pages and zoom in/out than any Windows Mobile browser I used.

Or get a HTC device, where you have a brilliant web browser (best on the market, including safari), music player and photo viewer...;) (All included in the touchflo)

OP have a look at either the Touch Pro 2 or maybe the Diamond 2?

Since when did Wimno have a brilliant web browser??..

For me when it comes to web browsing nothing beats the iphone although the google phones come very close imho.

Winmo as an operating system for mobiles is possibly the shoddiest and crappiest one out of all of them and thats saying something....hell id rather stab myself repeatedly in the eyes than have another phone with winmo on it:p

My last device was the HTC Diamond. Never did get on with touch flo, too many swipes and taps to get anywhere and when you did get to the app you wanted it wasn't finger-friendly.

I had to shutdown Opera and any other apps when not in use because of the low amount of RAM available. Safari always starts up on the last page I was viewing plus open tabs. Couldn't do that with Opera.

With WinMo by the time the hardware catches up the OS and apps have moved on. It's is a great OS and I was able to do a lot more with it than I am now, even with a jailbroken iPhone. I don't have the time to tweak and try different apps/utils anymore, which is why for me the iPhone wins.

Android is the way forward I think, the iPhone is great but Androids openness i going to lead to it being one step ahead of apple as time goes on I think, perhaps wait for the Sony android phone, looks great!

Why? When there are so many better alternatives...
Android > All
In your opinion. Some of us might have an opinion that differs.

OK then - I'll elaborate. I've spent the last month weighing up both. It was an incredibly close call, but I got an iPhone. Why? Because the 3GS has features I want that the Hero doesn't. Yes, that works the other way too - the Hero does have plenty of features the iPhone doesn't, but for me personally, the iPhone features mattered more. If you want me to be specific, then one word - Accessibility. I'm partially sighted. :)

Android will get there, and I'll seriously reconsider next time, but it isn't quite there yet for me.

£35 option is available for 18 months or two years. There's also a £30 option (18 months only).

A little tip for you. Work out roughly what you think you'd spend on PAYG top-ups (don't forget that the free wi-fi only lasts 12 months). Assuming an 18 month term, 3GS 16GB, and that I've done my sums right, the 'bar' is just below £14/mo. Spend less and PAYG is best. Spend more and contract is best.

Opera.;) Which is widely regarded as the best browser for a phone, and comes integrated into the Touch flo of HTC phones (both WM and Android I think). With WM you also have a much higher resolution, which when web browsing really helps (you can view most web pages as though you are sat at your PC, unlike the iPhone which you have to either use an iPhone specific page or slide across etc, yes I have tried it).

The HTC Diamond was a dog, there have been loads of complaints about it. :) My HD will happily have half a dozen or more programs in the background without even hickuping,I generally never close Opera down, unless I know I won't be using it for a while.:)

Last week Amp, I would have agreed with you. Loved my Touch HD, I'd flashed it it to Dutty's 6.5 rom from XDA dev and all was good.

However Ive since got my fists on a HTC Magic and I havent even turned my HD on since and see no reason to again to be honest.

Hated the iphone before, wouldn't even have considered it tbh. But when you get your hands on one, all be it for just a few hours, you realise just how great it is.

I was the same. In fact, there's a thread on another forum which started out with me saying I'd never touch an iPhone and currently ends with me saying it arrives tomorrow. :D

My current phone is an HTC TyTN, still running WinMo 5. Now it's no longer my main phone I might have a play with some ROMs at some point, but I suspect I just won't be bothered. WinMo is so 2007 and the world has frankly moved on. I've just about got to the point where I'd be delighted if Microsoft canned it. :D

maybe we should have a sticky 'winmo haters' thread and an iphone thread, would save all the iphone threads being posted and people slating winmo in virtually every single 'which phone' thread meaning the threads are smaller.

if you're not in a hurry to get a new phone, just wait a bit as there're new phones being announced(there's ment to be 20 android based phone due by the end of the year).
