Hi all,

I've currently got an E8500, ATI 3850, with 2GB RAM.

I just need a little upgrade as I think my current motherboard (Gigabyte P31) is playing up and my PSU is old and needs replacing for future upgrades. So I'm thinking of purchasing the following:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-015-FC

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-030-OC

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-012-PA

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-038-OT

I chose the motherboard and PSU because one day soon I hope to crossfire 4890's. Before I buy these I'd just like to know anyone's opinion on any of the above, is the motherboard any good, ram ok, etc.

Thanks in advance. :)

i would suggest GA-EP45-UD3R mobo and corsair or kingston 800mhz ram (no need paying more for 1066 - no difference)

rest looks good

Doesn't 1066 RAM not only run (admittedly unnoticeably) faster but also provide more options for overclocking? For the £6 difference over 800mhz RAM I am not sure that OPs choice is a bad one. Also I thought the days of Kingston and Corsair being the only trusted memory brand were long gone and patriot, g-skill and mushkin were all held in reasonably high regard?

Also I have heard that bandwidth on p45's when crossfiring 4890s is affected by the drop to x8 and may benefit from having the full two times x16 channels provided by the x48 boards. I know that there is almost no drop for 4870s when crossfiring at x8 bandwidth so I am dubious about this however. Personally would go with the Gigabyte board otherwise. Then again OP why are your thinking about xcrossfiring 4890s? why not just get one 5870 once they are out? Less heat, less power and less crossfire compatibility issues.

Tbh with you I had no idea they were coming out, but thanks for the heads up I'll wait for those if they're coming out soon.

Well the foxconn is cheaper. :D

I've done some searches on google about the board and it seems that it isn't faulted much, but I came here wondering if anyone had any opinions on it.

Cheers for the help.

Damn, didn't notice I needed DDR3, so after buying DDR2 and discovering this Overclockers refuse to change the ram because I opened the box and they said "we wouldn't be able to sell it". :(

Bit harsh considering I'm no expert (which is why I posted here) and they didn't say a damn thing when buying it all at the shop.
