The *Official* Eve Online Thread

I can't get it to 110km, I can get it to 102km.

30km base + 100% + 42.19% + 20% = 102.3km pretty much, my working out most likely sucks.

Still extremely nice.

It will be around 5 days before my alt can fly one maxed so I done the calcs too, it does come out at 102km. I will try and make do :)

I was jumping through low sec yesterday and some guy in a Legion(?) tried scrambling me and I'm sure we was 200km+. Is that possible or have I got the distance wrong?

do you know what it looks like someone scrambles you? I'm just checking that you're not talking about the orange blinky square :p

Cheeky! Yes - I know what it looks like :p. I must have got the distance wrong...a bit. I'll now have to have a look through the logs to make sure I'm not going mental.

Found it! It was warp scrambling. Just need to find the range he was at now :D.

My Large Blaster Spec V finishes in a couple of days and I'm going to take a break from the long skills and wind in a bunch of salvaging skills, fit out a rigged salvaging Catalyst, go looking for people missioning and see how many I can annoy with the ninja salvaging technique :)

Are any of you in a corp that is currently recruiting?

The corp I was in completely died over the summer, and it doesnt seem to be making any sign of recovery. So I said my thankyous, goodbyes and left. I want to experience a new aspect of the game - Wormhole operations, massive fleet pvp, 0.0 space etc.

Any pointers to a decent corp would be greatly appreciated, for any of the above.. Im currently sitting on around 4m SP, Caldari ships mainly.

I'd say get some more SPs before joining a PVP corp. I'd try and get you a place in DTHI but our minimum is 10m SPs and able to fly a Snipe BS.

Yeah.. Thats sort of my problem. I loved the game when I was playing with my lsat corp, but now find it very boring on my own.. However, dont want to get stuck in to middle of the range corp again. But, to get in to the sort of corp I want to be in I need more SP.. Catch 22 really.

Out of interest, what do you mean by a snipe BS? Just a long range BS of any race, or a specific ship/loadout?

If you can wait until after the alliance tourney you might want to check out Agony Unleashed. Fantastic bunch of active guys that are more concerned about a players attitude than their skill points.
Due to RL circumstances I left them a few months back as I don't have a lot of time for the game for a while but hopefully will return at some point.
The tricky part though about getting in is they ask you to attend one of their pvp courses and these tend to fill up pretty quick.

Setups can vary somewhat but generally speaking its a battleship of any race fitted with the largest long range T2 guns, sensor boosters, damage and range/tracking mods and a light tank. Ships of choice are usually Megathron, Rokh, Tempest or Apoc.

Cheers, Ill check them out.

Im guessing due to missiles slow nature, they would be useless for such a role?

We are very heavy on CTA operations so it requires us to use battleships at range so we don't get ganked by the guns. Normally we have a Cap fleet with us and they deal with other stuff so if we ever got into severe trouble they're there to help also.

So the average BS setup (I use a mega personally)

Highs: 425mm Railguns II
Mids: Sensor Booster II x2 (Optimal Range loadout and scan res), Tracking CPU II, 100mn MWD II
Lows: Damage Ctrl II, Mag Stabs and The other tracking thingy (Sorry top of my head)

But you need to be using a stable T2 setup.. normally we say keep ships of certain types in the staging area (At the moment we're working in Detroid) and we normally keep (This is along with caps if you can fly them) a Snipe BS, Interceptor, Snipe BC, HAC, Interdictor..

Now I only have 15mill myself and I can only fly a few of those but a lot of corps in bigger alliances will normally have those requirements for the more organised operations.

5 weeks in I've been enjoying this game, my only grumbles...missions are incredibly samey and I spend days not playing as I'm waiting for skills to train.

I'm just starting level 4 missions, please tell me this isn't the "end game".

Yep the missions are all the same but each level you go up the same missions have different ships in them. Level 4 missions are money earners and increase your security/standings better than the rest and are also incredibly boring. Use missions to get money and standings then join a PvP corp as that's where the fun lies!

This. PVP is where all the fun lies..
