There are many governments, however, that would be more concerned about a possible missile shipment, especially if it were destined for the Middle East. Chief among them is Israel. In recent years, the Israeli government has consistently raised alarms about Russia's plans to sell MiG-31 fighter planes to Syria and its construction of a nuclear-power station in southwestern Iran

strange but possible.

Would not put it passed them, the only nation that could start a land based WW3, people have wondered how arms have got to Afghan, through Iran and Russia?

Definately agree there! I think its shocking how much Russia gets away with, but then again how are we going to stop then when they still have a capable armed forces, and control a lot of the worlds natural resources?

It's much the same as all these dictators in Africa whose armies turn up and wipe entire swathes of their Countries from the map with the latest Chinese military hardware.

So while we in the 'civilised West' are pumping untold billions in to stabilise Africa the Chinese are funneling in hi-tech weaponry.

Let me understand this correctly.

People think that Russia was secretly transporting missles from Russia to Iran via a ship from finland to algeria?
Does someone need to look at a map of the world and see how logistically retarded this sounds? or am I missing a glaringly obvious point.

Stelly you're quite right, Russia and Iran both border the Caspain Sea it would make far more sense to send missile parts by rail to the Caspain then by sea to Iran. That wat no nosey countries can interfere. Finland to algeria just don't make sense.

The caspain sea is probably under close surveillance. Who would expect a shipment from Finland to Algeria?

I think you would be suprised at how much military hardware the 'west' ship to these countries as well. France is a major player in international arms trade. Britain doesn't have clean hands either unfortunately.

Exactly, not to mention the fact that the IRA we're running around with nice shiny armalite during the troubles.

I think it's far worse how much Israel gets away with to be perfectly honest.
Only a small minded, one track broken record could ever come up with something so paranoid and self obsessed as to declare that Russia was actually sending nukes to Iran.
They probably sent nukes to Iran so that Iran can bomb the **** out of poor little Israel. Algeria is so obviously close to that region and hardly suspicious so it MUST mean that it was a secret consignment of nukes... oh please  Pathetic Israelis. But good way to divert attention from their recent little piece of 'foreign policy'.

It is so unbelievably unlikely that anything of the sort happened. It's also another good excuse to have a bash at the Russians. Anyone notice the BBC doing it recently? Racist Russia articles (or racism in Russia and how they don't take too kindly to immigrants) followed by the next day an article on 'Russia's Barack Obama' (a black 'russian' wanting to become an elected minister).

It seems that Russia stands up for itself and doesn't need a big brother country to help it. It also would seem that Russia isn't a pushover and people don't like this. Everyone wants to try to make Russia and Russian policy out as being ridiculous... I wonder why

Thing is, Russian can do pretty much anything and no there will be no recourse. Except for MAD.

You are missing the fact it went into Kaliningrad for repairs for 2 weeks prior to docking in Finland.
