Right, my mate has just upgraded his case to an Antec 1200 but his old case still has the official XP sticker on it. He only upgraded the case as all the components were moved to the new case. So, how does he get the sticker off without tearing it to bits? Ta

Heat it up with a hairdryer and slowly peel it off, be patient. It probably won't be as sticky ever again, but you could just tape it to the case or inside of the side panel etc.

The sticker isn't the important bit, it's the serial code that's on it. So if he writes it down and keeps it, it shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldn't want a windows sticker on a new case anyway :D

But if you don't have the CoA (Certificate of Authenticity) sticker on your case, you have failed to complete your requirements under the EULA. Effectively, without the CoA on the case, you're running an unlicensed copy of Windows. ZOMG, you might as well pirate it from the internetz and not pay MS a penny. It's almost worse than reactivating OEM for a new mobo.

Etc. ;)

What a load of codswallop. If push came to shove and in the extremely unlikelyhood of him being investigated about the EULA i doubt very much he would be repromanded for not being able to transfer the sticky label when in fact he was all legal anyway!

Some people on here really take things too literally!!

It's not the EULA requirements, it's in the system builder licence. But either way there is a requirement to have the sticker attached to the case.

What about having the sticker attached to the case but the Product number being rubbed off, as in my local Purple Colour shirt place? All the PC's there have the stickers on them but the numbers are overwritten so you can't see them!!
