Hi,
does anyone know how to connect an xbox 360 to the internet using the wireless on a pc?
i can find some guides but don't seem to be able to get it to work.
i'm running windows vista 64bit with a wireless card in it that works fine and i'm trying to share the internet connection to the xbox 360.
i have no option to go wired in my bedroom and don't really want to pay £50 for a wireless adapter for the xbox.

thanks for any help you can give.

all you should need to do is right click the wireless icon on the task bar, go to properties and check the box allow other network users to connect through this computers internet connection.
the pic is win 7 but should be similar in vista i would think

As above, you can also bridge but ICS is just as effective. Easiest and cheapest method to get your 360 online if your computer is close.

I'm going to guess i have a crap wireless card, i don't have the option to share the wireless connection, it's an edimax EW-7728IN PCI card. good for wireless use but can't share i don't think

i did have the ICS turned on, on the ethernet as i thought that's what i'm sharing across?
yeah, both connections are on, wireless for the pc to get on the internet and ethernet to hopefully pass the connection to the xbox.

Think i've cracked it, pretty much did the same as before but i think i must have got the default gateway wrong last time.
now i just need to manually set the pc with its current automatic setting and hopefully it will continue to work.

edit: getting an error now saying i need an open NAT type? i'm using a netgear DG834G

You need to have ICS turned on on the wireless adapter not the wired ethernet port.

I've managed to connect it now and it's just downloaded and update.
now i just get a problem connecting to live
"your console is connected to the internet but cant contact xbox live"

"your NAT type is moderate, people with this NAT type may not be able to connect to certain games".

Homeplugs?

again it's cost, i'll have to buy something like that or the wireless adapter if i can't get this to work. but i'm hoping to not have to spend yet.

Edit: I'm such an idiot. to sort the NAT out all i had to do was restart the xbox after i'd managed to get it connected to the internet.

if you do get any more nat errors then you'll just need to open up a few ports on your router. cant remember off hand which ports though. alternativly give your xbox a static IP then stick that in the DMZ of your router :)
